The Core is a good name. Wade the former leader and Slater/Gabriel the former champions were "The Core" of Nexus.

It is simple and plain but it makes complete sense just like "Evolution"

- As noted earlier, Wade Barrett's group on SmackDown has a new name. According to the spelling on the Titantron at last night's tapings, the new name is spelled The Corre, pronounced core.

Totally don't see the point in adding a extra r to it.

Maybe Wade will pronounce it better. Most plausible reason for the extra r is that someone else probably had the original spelling trademarked.

True didn't think about the trademark side of it. That's probably the only reason then in that case.

So I'm watching SD! right now and guess who I see during the Long situation when he was being helped by paramedics: Michael Tarver.

Thanks to Kenny Fields for the following WWE Friday Night SmackDown tapings from tonight’s event in Cincinnati, Ohio:


Dark Match:
* Percy Watson defeated Chavo Guerrero.


SmackDown, Airing January 28th on SyFy:
* Vickie Guerrero came out like usual but was interrupted by Randy Orton to a big ovation. Orton asked Vickie to excuse him for what he was going to do to her boyfriend tonight and for taking the WWE Title from The Miz. Dolph Ziggler came out and demanded respect for him and his girlfriend. Orton ended it with an RKO to Ziggler.


* Layla and Michelle McCool beat Kelly Kelly and Kaitlyn. Kelly and Kaitlyn attacked LayCool during their entrance but McCool got the quick win by pinning Kaitlyn.


* Drew McIntyre beat JTG with the Future Shock DDT. Kelly Kelly stayed out for commentary on the match and looked on at Drew from the ring as he left after winning.


* Todd Grisham interviews Cody Rhodes backstage. Cody keeps his back turned the whole time because Rey Mysterio broke his nose last week. Doctors won’t let Cody compete and he no longer feels dashing.


* Backstage interview with Edge talking about The Corre and teaming with Orton.
* We see Alberto Del Rio introduce himself to Michael Tarver backstage.


* Kofi Kingston won a battle royal by eliminating Alberto Del Rio and Kane last. Kane and Del Rio came back in but Rey Mysterio came to make the save. Vickie Guerrero came out to announce Del Rio and Kane vs. Kofi and Rey.


* Mysterio and Kingston beat Del Rio and Kane in a great match. Kane ended up hitting Del Rio and leaving. Rey and Kofi hit their finishers on Del Rio and Kofi got the pin to win the match.


* Big Show came out to talk about The Corre and the Royal Rumble. The Corre came out to surround the ring and Show challenged them which led to a match with Slater. Show won with a chokeslam. After the match, The Corre came in to attack until RAW and SmackDown stars made the save.


* Edge and Randy Orton defeat The Miz and Dolph Ziggler when Edge hits the spear on Ziggler. After the match, Vickie Guerrero says the spear is banned. If Edge uses it at the Royal Rumble, Dolph Ziggler automatically wins and gets the World Title.

Edge probably will win via roll up or something.

Booker T and Kevin Nash are both booked for the Royal Rumble as surprises, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

As I noted yesterday, I suspected Booker was scheduled based on recent discussions with the company and based on Booker being pulled from his scheduled appearance at the New Orleans Comic Con. Company sources confirmed this morning he is in the Rumble.

WWE sources have also confirmed that Kevin Nash is booked for the Rumble and is scheduled to fly into Boston later today. Nash, who was in discussions with TNA as late as yesterday to finally finalize his deal to return to the company, will instead make his first appearance in a WWE ring in years.

TNA sources confirmed they ended their discussions with Nash within the last several days. The two sides had been going back and forth on signing a new deal in recent months and at one point, sources indicated that a new deal was done. That led to Nash accusing TNA's office of leaking the information, which led to new rounds of negotiations. Nash admitted in a recent interview he was negotiating with TNA. Those discussions ended sometime within the last 24-48 hours. Nash has been pulled off the TNA website's roster.

Even if he totally is a bore to watch wrestle It'll be cool to see big Kev back in a WWE ring.

Christian was also brought in for the PPV. I haven't heard what his role would be for the show, if any, but he was specifically brought in today for the show. For what it's worth, he isn't wearing his arm in a sling.

Hacksaw Duggan will likely appear on the show as he has a non-WWE booking in the area and is expected at the show.

Duggan isn't a surprise. Should be interesting to see what WWE has in store for Christian.

* Booker T joins Michael Cole and Josh Mathews on commentary. This is his new role in WWE.

* Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero come out and Vickie talks about the World Heavyweight Championship match for later tonight. Kelly Kelly comes out and smacks Ziggler in the face. LayCool come out and Edge comes out and the ring empties.

* WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov vs. Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater in a non-title match. Winners, Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater via 450 splash by Gabriel onto Kozlov.

* Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match, Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston. In the middle of the match Alberto Del Rio comes on the big screen, distracting Kofi Kingston. This allows McIntyre to win after hitting the Future Shock DDT.


* Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match, Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger. Mysterio reverses Swagger's ankle lock with head scissors and rolls him up for the win.

* Backstage, World Heavyweight Champion Edge talks with Kelly Kelly. She says he's like Drew McIntyre and has no faith in her.

* Hornswoggle and Rosa Mendes come out to ringside. Ricardo Rodriguez comes out to announce Alberto Del Rio. Hornswoggle hits Del Rio in the crotch and Del Rio attacks. Kofi Kingston comes down for the save but ends up in a Del Rio armbar.

* Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match, Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero. Kane catches Chavo on the Frog Splash attempt and chokeslams him. Kane pins him to win the quick squash.

* Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match, Big Show vs. Wade Barrett. Show throws Barrett into the referee and The Corre comes out to help their leader. Ezekiel Jackson hits a clothesline and Barrett gets a near fall. Barrett hits a DDT on Show and gets the three count for the win. After the match, Show goes after them but is slammed by Jackson.

Edge & Kelly Kelly vs. Dolph Ziggler & LayCool in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match for the World Heavyweight Championship. Winners via Kelly Kelly pinning Layla, Edge & Kelly Kelly so Edge retains the World Heavyweight Championship. Vickie Guerrero is furious after the match and fires Kelly Kelly. She announces next week Edge will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Dolph Ziggler and she'll be the special guest referee.

King might have to choke a bitch if Striker gets promoted to Raw

Looks like that will be the case. Can't wait to hear Booker on commentary should be great.

King always sound borderline pissed off on ppvs, so I feel for him if he has to call the show with Striker and Cole every week.
