Could be the old friend Hogan was on the phone with. Wonder when they will tell who that was.

Clearly it was Brutus Beefcake

__________

fucking commercial fest man wtf

__________

I can't give the show anything less than a 7/10

It wasn't wall to wall entertainment, and some of the segments just outright sucked, but the positives were very positive

-Excellent PPV quality match from Roode & AJ. I would have to say it was easily the best TV match I've seen in 2012 (+Roode goes over clean!!!!!)
-Roode's celebration- classic
-Great opening with Bully/Hogan/AJ/Angle/Hardy and it was very unique.
-Aries vs Ryan was cool, and gives me hope for this 'Gut Check' gimmick after Silva was pretty shitty last time. Ryan better get a job
-Joseph Park is the man. His gimmick, mannerisms, and facial expressions are hilarious. His interaction with Bully was superb, both guys play their role to perfection

negatives:
-A little too much Hogan, although he wasn't that bad
-Garrett/Devon/Big Rob Bigger Rob fiasco
-Gail/Maddie vs Mr. & Mrs. ODB (even though it gave me a couple of laughs)

I'm pretty neutral on Sting's return.. I'm just thankful that he is facing Roode next week and not at Slammy. Good way to kick off their live programming tbh

Gotta agree with Dolph's, the positives were very positive, but the negatives were really bad...
7.5/10:

+ Gail Kim really needed a character, she got some semblance of one tonight. Madison forgets her panties again, ODB starts to act like a voice of reason, and they made Eric Young look like a complete chump. I marked hard for everything about this segment and fucking loved this! Bully Ray and Joseph Park was absolute gold, and that main event... Oh baby! Wow! Roode and Styles put on the best TV match since the Impact London tapings, at least. These three things occupied most of the show, and if you Youtube these three things this show was freaking fantastic. Good to see Gunner again.

- So much garbage with Hogan things was unnecessary, and it still feels like Hogan is simply playing favorites instead of giving actual reasons. I won't buy into the concept until they fix this, and I won't want to watch OFN until they scale back Hogan. Don't know how to feel about Austin Aries vs Ron Burgundy. Won't buy into Gut Check until someone actually does something with their contract, but at least Ryan looked like he belonged on the roster. TNA needs to fix this. Devon bending over backwards to kiss Garett's ass to try to get him over is simply embarassing... and I can't take any more of this damned feud. Why is Rob Terry still employed? When is Bob Van Dam's contract expiring? When is Sting retiring?

You're way overrating it.

The backstage segment was awesome and original, all of them shined. But to separate it into 3 separate segments was overkill. Park/Bully Ray is actually my favourite part of impact at the moment, I'm loving their feud, Joseph is amazing. The main event match was absolutely incredible, PPV value. But that's it. The rest was filler and boring. There were like 7 segments of Hulk Hogan, Sting returning to feud with Bobby YET AGAIN doesn't in anyway shape or form excite me for next week. Aries' match seemed completely pointless, where's his supposed push gone?

I don't see how 3/4 segments = 7/7.5 ratings.

5/10 for me.

5 great things happened in my book, so a 7 is warranted to me. 3 of the 5 things were beyond awesome, with the opener, the main event match, and the Park/Bully segment. The Roode celebration was classic, I nearly died when he was rolling around/making snow angels in the confetti. And I really enjoyed the Joey Ryan character and his match with Aries. Aries didn't have anything to do this week so I was glad they found a way to at least get him on tv.

You beg and beg for AJ to be in the main event, and when he main events Impact and puts on the TV match of the year you still aren't satisfied.

edit: While it was pretty telegraphed that Sting was returning after that Hogan 'Oh shiz' (which was face palm worthy at best) I think this is what will happen. They have their match next week, Roode wins via shenanigans, and Sting is thrown into the KOTM match. Roode, Sting, Storm, Angle, AJ, Hardy. Sounds fine to me. Any more involvement with Sting/Roode than that, and it sucks.

btw more props to Roode he beasted out of control in that segment. His 'nooooooooooooooo' to end the show was 10/10 hilarious. I hope he holds the TNA Title for a solid year. He is that good.

I drooled over the match and praised it. How have I shown I'm not satisfied?

So because AJ was in the main event I should enjoy Hogan appearing 7 times? Your posts are so illogical sometimes.

I'm just super glad they have faith in Roode.

Just saying the show was good despite too much Hogan. Most of the segments he appeared in he wasn't the focus of anyway except the short Sting phone call and when he said 'next week live on Spike at 7:00' about 10 times in 30 seconds to promote the live shows next week. You say we 'way overrate it' but our ratings really aren't all that far apart.

I was juiced on the Austin Aries - Joey Ryan match. The dude looks like a creepy porn star or some other kind of sleezy self indulged genius, (did you see the way he had his tongue out? ridiculous) but the match was great. I was fine with the AJ style match with Roode, and the celebration was hilarious. I was wondering why he was so into getting the materials all over himself, but when Sting threw him into the corner and they all flew off around the ring, it made total sense. Champagne in the eyes is painful, and there is no way to act that horrible feeling out, haha.

Well, Crayo, there are a few reasons I rated mine more.

-We knew going in that Hogan would have 175 segments, so that wasn't a surprise, but they really need to fix that. Should definitely downgrade the show due to how asinine his reasons for eliminating people are + how ridiculous the concept is, but it didn't really bother me because we knew it was coming.

-Sting coming back? Don't care. TNA being TNA.

-It was so wonderful to see Eric Young's idiocy cost them a match. He got buried in this segment, and after countless segments of pure torture this year, this made me mark out like crazy.

-WWE has lowered our expectations considerably. Raw was a catastrophe. Smackdown doesn't look much better, NXT is just spinning their wheels until season 6 comes around, so having 3 good segments on a wrestling show deserves a 7/10 nowadays.

Also: Bonus points for the "Your Calves Suck" sign. I laughed so hard at that...

The May 24 episode of IMPACT Wrestling got a 1.02 rating with 1.43 million viewers. This is only down a little bit compared to the last Open Fight Night and is in line with what they had been doing these past few months.

The next couple of weeks will be the first time IMO that ratings really matter. If they don't get a decent bump from going live they probably won't bother doing it any more after this summer.
