See I can't understand already forming opinions on this without knowing any real facts. It's all case by case for me and I hold off on any judgment either way until I see them. Sure it could be a girl falsely accusing him bc he's been in the news lately or even (CONSPIRACY ALERT) the Raiders trying to spread this (doubtful), but dude's crazy and I can also see it being a very legitimate accusation. I don't dismiss or accept rape accusations very quickly, I keep it open both ways unless it's pretty clear cut

The timing is way too suspect. I just don't like it.

Here's the thing for me, though. You're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty anyway so if you can prove he's guilty, then he did it. I'll stand corrected. My issue is with the believe all women people that crucify these people without a shred of evidence.

It's a civil lawsuit? That makes this more suspect to me, then. If this was that recent, why not press criminal charges?

That is interesting timing for 2017 and 2018 incidents with everything that's happened, but it could also easily be her thinking he was untouchable before and now that popular opinion has changed on him more, she thinks the truth could come out, like I said it's not hard to see it from both sides.

One thing I think should be specified is that sexual assault is not necessarily rape, and while I still think it should be treated seriously because it's more widespread than full-out rape, it's still a more minor offense and grouping all cases of sexual assault with actual rape is harmful to true rape victims

That's also fair and I don't really disagree with it, but it goes both ways. The justice system purposely uses the terms "guilty" and "not guilty" (not innocent) because just because someone is proven not guilty does not mean they were innocent, it's just not enough proof to confirm guilt...so by that it's also unfair to say a rape claim is false just because the accused is deemed "not guilty" as there's also probably not enough evidence to prove the alleged victim was lying about it so women shouldn't be villified for coming forward unless it's proven 100% that they were lying just like someone shouldn't be called a rapist for the same reasons.
