Are they starting the specials in April? I didn't see an official date.

I think one's supposed to be held on April 22nd, if I'm not mistaken. But there have also been rumors it won't happen until May 27th.

I guess we might find out this Wednesday when they air NXT.

I like it. Seems like a good way to get the guys some experience that can be needed for the monthly PPVs on the main roster. Too much time can get them too comfortable on NXT, I guess is what I'm getting at.

As you say Balor, we'll see what happens. Maybe they'll start doing "filler PPVs" where they put on better matches and have key storyline developments leading to the Big Four which are the same as we have now...

Still, it's hard to be optimistic about this. Don't mess with success.

Because that totally works on the main roster.

This is the first serious threat to what makes NXT work.

And it doesn't make an iota of sense.

So, this is what I came across on Tumblr earlier this evening. Take it with a grain of salt:
WWE officials just contacted the Observer to say that the NXT specials are going to remain quarterly.

WWE's filler shows - except maybe Fast Lane - don't build to bigger PPV's though.

Anyway, it's an unmitigated disaster on the main roster, but... In the last month in a half since Owens won the title, he's had at least 2 quality matches with build that delivered massively, with Neville and Balor. Problem's when they think "fuck it Owens vs Riley can totally main event a special"

It's better to avoid the situation altogether. Don't. Mess. With. Success.

Well, here it is. If it's true (it prolly is), then swell.

Earlier this week, WWE announced several new special and series for the WWE Network including new NXT Takeover specials. They wrote the following in their press release:

NXT TAKEOVER – LIVE! – AIRS MONTHLY ON WEDNESDAYS
The future is here. WWE's hottest up-and-coming Superstars compete to prove they've got what it takes. More than just evolution, it's a revolution! Witness these WWE Superstars of tomorrow as they take over WWE Network with live two-hour specials.

F4Wonline.com reports that WWE officials have confirmed that the NXT specials will remain quarterly. They will be changing the wording in their press release that says the specials will air monthly.

There've been rumors about the next live Takeover special being held on April 22nd, there's also another one which says it won't happen till May 27th.

Granted Owens had some good matches but what about the rest of the card? One match special does not make (I know you know, but I'm bored so). Plus you gotta have some good stuff for regular TV once in a while (again, yes, most of the TV shows are good as we normally mark about but in the way of big matches I mean).
I have no idea how this is a positive, especially in the long run. Isn't it that easy to see how monthly shows are too much? I get it because it makes you a lot of money (when they're on PPV, anyway), but this is developmental, they're not supposed to make money. Really don't see the upside to this
