I know...I wish the WWE came up with good names like they did in the past. Like Hulk Hogan, or Hunter Hearst Helmsley, or Shawn Michaels, or Evan Bourne.

My point is..not so long ago people were bitching about the name Evan Bourne as well. These names will grow on you, like Shawn Michaels.

And you are crazy if you expected him to keep his own name. The only people who have that luxury are people with recognizable names or John Cena.

CM Punk isn't his real name. The WWE may in fact own rights to it now. The WWE doesn't want to build up wrestlers then have other promotions benefit from all their work should that wrestler leave the WWE.

CM Punk owns the rights to his name. WWE let it slide because the name fit the gimmick and he was already pretty well recognized by his name.
On the other hand, Bryan Danielson is just a regular old name... so by their logic may as well just give him a different regular name.

And to whoever asked... yeah everyone on NXT will still assume their regular roles on the other shows. Jericho confirmed so in a Tweet.
