Tonight on WWE 205 Live, WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore has one last opportunity to derail Cedric Alexander’s momentum before they battle for the title on the first Raw of 2018. Plus, with an impressive victory against The Brian Kendrick on Raw, Hideo Itami continues to demand respect.

Since his debut on Raw — teaming with his longtime friend and ally Finn Bálor in a win over The Miztourage — Hideo Itami has made it cleat that the entire Cruiserweight division will respect him. The Japanese Superstar made his highly-anticipated WWE 205 Live debut last week, decisively defeating Colin Delaney in a true display of his in-ring abilities.

On Raw, Itami faced a major challenge in former WWE Cruiserweight Champion The Brian Kendrick. Recently feeling overlooked for better opportunities, The Man with a Plan – with Gentleman Jack Gallagher at his side – was poised to stop the latest addition to the Cruiserweight division from mounting any additional momentum. Despite giving the Japanese Superstar a formidable effort, Kendrick fell victim to Itami’s patented Go to Sleep.

With such a major victory against a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion under his belt, will Itami continue to prove unstoppable as he continues his quest to dominate the landscape of WWE 205 Live?

Next week on the first Raw of 2018, Cedric Alexander will finally face Enzo Amore for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Earning the opportunity by winning a “Second Chance” Fatal 5-Way Match and then defeating Enzo’s ally Drew Gulak, Alexander has been laser-focused and nearly unstoppable, fending off every attempt by The Zo Train to make him question his own abilities.

Last night on Raw, Alexander teamed up with Akira Tozawa and Mustafa Ali to defeat The Certified G, Gulak and Ariya Daivari in a Six-Man Tag Team Miracle on 34th Street Fight. Alexander picked up the victory for his squad with a Lumbar Check to Daivari, sending yet another message to the WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Before their meeting next week on Raw, Amore and The Zo Train have one last chance to sidetrack Alexander before he is one Lumbar Check away from becoming the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion. WWE 205 Live preview, Jan. 2, 2018: Gentleman Jack Gallagher has second chance to get retribution against Hideo Itami

On the first WWE 205 Live of 2018, Gentleman Jack Gallagher battles Hideo Itami in a rematch from the last WWE 205 Live of 2017. Plus, can Cedric Alexander maintain his momentum until WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore recovers from the flu?

Cedric Alexander keeps rolling with a surprise tag team partner

Cedric Alexander’s new year was supposed to begin with an opportunity to challenge Enzo Amore for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. In recent weeks, Alexander has built incredible momentum against The Certified G, while also helping to dismantle Enzo’s loyal cadre, The Zo Train. Unfortunately, Alexander’s opportunity was postponed due to Muscles Marinara being hospitalized with the flu before Raw.

Despite not being able to challenge for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, Alexander proved he was ready for action on Raw when he confronted two of Enzo’s top Zo Train loyalists, Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari. Challenging the Charlotte, N.C.-native to a tag team match and doubting anyone would answer the call, Gulak and Daivari were stunned when Goldust made his way to the ring and joined the Cruiserweight division for the evening.

An impressive performance from Alexander earned he and The Bizarre One a victory and certainly put Enzo on notice that once he recovers, the major challenge to his WWE Cruiserweight Championship remains. Can Alexander continue his winning ways until his challenge is rescheduled, or will The Zo Train find a way to set the stage for The Certified G’s triumphant return?

Gentleman Jack Gallagher has a second chance to show Hideo Itami his brand of cruelty

Last week on WWE 205 Live, Gentleman Jack Gallagher stepped inside the squared circle to face Hideo Itami. The previous night on Raw, a devastating Go To Sleep from Itami left Gallagher’s compatriot, The Brian Kendrick, with a fractured nose and orbital bone. Despite his best effort in a hard-fought contest, Gallagher’s cruelty was countered by the Japanese Superstar’s demand for respect, and the British competitor succumbed to the Rings of Saturn.

Although Gallagher closed out the final WWE 205 Live of 2017 with a defeat, tonight he has the opportunity to set the tone for 2018 – not only for himself, but for Itami as well – when he battles the hard-hitting Japanese Superstar in a rematch. Has Gallagher learned what is needed for victory from their first meeting, or will he be forced to respect the power and intensity of Hideo Itami and start off the new year with a loss?
