We received a report that the 4/18 Twin River Casino NWA television taping in Lincoln, Rhode Island drew 2,000 fans, which was headlined by former WCW and WWF champion Sid Vicious. However, the 6/7 NWA show at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA only sold 28 tickets on 5/3, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Vicious and Rob Conway were the only names listed. Since then, they have added X-Pac and the Rock 'n' Roll Express to the card.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So they have one show that has 2,000 people they think they can do a show in the Phillips Arena? The Phillips Arena holds 18,000 people. At least TNA can be say theres someone worst then them.

I'm going to laugh, but it's really a bad thing when a company thinks that they're that good, and only sell 28 tickets. I really want to see what the final numbers are, I'm guessing maybe around 200-300.

NWA isn't exactly "rich" don't you watch NWA on TV? Do you know what the current product is like? Do they have good production? Im curious as too why in the hell they would even think about running there.

Edit

I didn't mean to sound offensive

NWA made a mistake when they disaffiliated with TNA. Stars like Christian would defend the NWA title (see your sig lol) on their shows I presume. Now they're a 'nothing' promotion again... oh if only they could hark back to the glory days when NWA = ruled the wrestling world with WWWF Chairman Vince McMahon Sr as a member of the board of directors...

After the showcase, they started to actually seem like a real wrestling show. But every Wednesday they show re-runs from months earlier and it doesn't really help out at all..

In 2006 the NWA Pro had a handful of events in smaller sized arenas with attendance numbers varying from 1,000 to 3,000. In 2007 they ran more frequently and were drawing on average 5,000 to most of their arena shows. Most of those were called "sold shows." What that basically means is that the arena pays the promoter to put on a show. The arena makes its money back on the ticket sales and concessions. NWA ran most frequently in Texas because they kept getting invited back. When the NWA ran in the Phillips Arena, that was a paid show. Ticket sales weren't great and the arena turned it into a promotion with a local retailer to give away seats. The arena wasn't sold out but there was a large attendance.

You can't judge the NWA by the Phillips Arena event. And if you look how they've grown in the last 2 years... A full-time wrestling promotion in Australia, France, and now Mexico. Associations with New Japan and IWA Puerto Rico. The Showcase was well received but was put on extended hiatus to revamp the program. Pretty ambitious for a promotion that was preceived to be dead.
