We didn't need a report on this, but that being said @RLStern can you respect the op and stick to talking about stuff that isn't his drawing power?

I did, I responded to the OP.

She claimed that others were better than Rock and Rock needed them, I pointed out Rock outdrew them, meaning Rock was objectively better than them.

Easily refuted.

I mean what are you supposed to say to the OP other than I agree or not lmao. Is the point of the OP that he didn’t deserve his top spot or are you simply stating that he needed the right opponent to look good :lol

In an effort to add some discussion:

@Exalted you'd agree that Rock started going from solid mid-carder to potential star was after his great feud with Trips in 1998.

Numbers don't lie. ....

BTS is the most popular band in the world.....so that means they're great.....even if I don't like em.....be objective.....numbers don't lie....it's not like I could manipulate them to push a narrative and agenda.....nah.....numbers mean everything.

Drake has more hits than the Beatles....that means he's obviously better.....fuck what they provided to music.....NUMBER ONE HITS 8D

Objectivity here.....fuck what you heard like a dick in your ear.

Sure. The ladder match with Hunter at SummerSlam was great. Which felt like a showcasing of two of WWE's futures in one match.

And you can't talk about the attitude era without mentioning the fire series of matches between Rock and Foley between Survivor Series and Mania.

I don't think two other performers besides maybe Triple H and Foley in 2000 went as balls out as those two did in a series of matches.

Before that feud tbh, I don't think the Rock was very good. The Trips feud definitely had a hand in cementing his confidence, I think. He felt so out of place in 1997.

I definitely didn't see more of Rock beyond being a midcarder.

I knew WWE wanted more, but he was stuck with D'Lo, Mark and Godfather at a time none of them were doing much.

That ladder match was a starmaker and honestly I'm surprised it took another year for Hunter to get that push, too.

I’ll agree with everyone and say the Summerslam ladder match was the match that cemented Rock’s main event status.

Before that feud tbh, I don't think the Rock was very good. The Trips feud definitely had a hand in cementing his confidence, I think. He felt so out of place in 1997.

You must of missed his promos in late 1997 when he was feuding with Austin.

His promos in the nation when he was getting more heel heat that than Shawn Michaels after the screw job ENTERING 1998, where they had to put him last two in the Rumble.

Top 3 draws for the WWF in late 1997 were Austin, Shawn & Rock, even HHH who was doing DX was less over.

This idea that the Rock got over in 1998 is funny and shows clearly most didn’t watch, he was already the top heel entering 1998, no one got more heat then him, even Shawn.

Then Rock surpassed Austin in the summer of 1998, and turned face.

Even on the road to summerslam Rock outdrew Austin on the August 24,1998 Raw.

After Summerslam 1998 no one, no Austin not DX, were getting bigger pops & ratings than Rock, just look at Breakdown 1998.

Austin was losing in ratings to Goldberg, then Rock beat Goldberg in ratings and beat WCW at its peak in late 1998.
