Having held the top NPD spot for the past 14 months straight -- and with the introduction of Kinect -- the old Xbox 360 still has some life in it yet. "For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360," Xbox spokesperson and Group Manager of PR David Dennis told Bloomberg. "There will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon." A few sources close to news outlet Bloomberg insist that Microsoft will introduce a new console in 2013 at the earliest. Next year's E3 could hold an unveiling of the Xbox 360 successor, says the report, with a potential same-year launch to follow. Now doesn't that sound familiar?

I was hoping we'd see something at E3 but oh well, it was highly unlikely this year anyway. Maybe they'll just give a teaser at least. But at least I don't have to buy another console later this year since I just brought a new slim just about less than 6 months ago.

Hatred, I doubt anyone wants to buy a new console that badly right now. Frankly, I doubt many will want to next year either.

Why won't they? If it's released around holiday season in 2013 they will. We have had the Xbox 360 since late 2005/early 2006.

Because there's no point. The current consoles already support 3D (which is the new "thing") and the highest definition of HD available on the consumer market. About the only notable improvement I've heard of is faster loading times, and the current loading times aren't all that bad tbh. I realize that mathematically, this is about the time when the new console talk begins, I just don't think the current console generation has to be as short-lived as previous eras. The PS2/Xbox era brought online play to consoles, the PS3/360 era brought us high-def. There's nothing new right now that demands a new console generation.

I am one of the people that don't want another system to come out for a while, I'm happy with my Xbox 360 and I'm glad they will keep doing stuff for it.
