The show has been mediocre at best and it doesn't seem to be improving at all and around a time it SHOULD be because you know, the ROYAL FREAKING RUMBLE!. This is my favorite PPV and I already feel myself being let down. It is not that hard to build for a PPV that has most of the time eaten up by one match. It is also not that hard to increase ratings if you just go on to ANY social network and see how disappointed fans have been. Just take what you are doing now, and do the opposite cause hell, a shockingly questionable surprise is better than a predictable dumb one.

Vince is pulling the greatest screw job of all... Vince screwing the fans. Thanks Vince. Just bend each and every one of us over, leave the lube at home, and make us all your bitch.

I think that for the most part the show has gone way past mediocre and unfortunately not towards the "better" direction. I mean, just take the latest RAW for example:

a) what was the purpose of Ryback vs the Big Show? what exactly are they fighting for?
b) what was the purpose of ADR and Rusev going against the Usos?
c) what is the purpose of yet ANOTHER faction, this one with Axel, Rose, Slater and Bo Dallas? Seriously, someone please give me some insight.
d) what was the purpose of Titus O'nil vs Stardust?

It makes you wonder sometimes exactly what WWE creative are smoking in order to come up with such boring nonsense to fill out a 3 hour show...

The 4 jobbers get time on the TV show and WWE gets a waste of 3 segments all in one.

I'm fine with surprise returns, even though most of 'em don't end up winning, but I still enjoy the ride.

DB, Rollins and Cesaro would be my favorite surprise returns at this year's Rumble, though.

I think the problem is not what they are smoking... The problem is that they stopped. :true:

a) To see who the stronger man is. Big Show KNOWS he is the stronger man, so that's why he CBA to finish the match and walked out.
b) To solidify ADR & RuRu as the most dominant tag team on the roster, duh.
c) So The League of Nations wouldn't be the only jobber faction on the roster, duh.
d) The winner would get a future WWE-WHC title shot. Nah, jk. It was a filler (garbage) segment.

You gotta love, WWE!:Rollins:

Anyone think any NXT guys will show up?

I could see Baron Corbin or Samoa Joe making an appearance

Since when has the Rumble ever been unpredictable? It's usually one of the most predictable things all year. At best, it comes down to one of two people winning it. Once in a blue moon (i.e. 2006), you might see a scenario where there's as many as three different people that could plausibly win it, but that's it.

All I care about is the quality of the match itself (last year's was abysmal and easily one of the worst in history), some fun nostalgia appearances, and someone winning that it isn't compete shit (i.e. Del Rio in 2011 and Sheamus in 2012, as quick examples, were boring winners.)

There's literally no way every match on every Raw (or even most Raw's) can have some meaningful purpose behind it. We're talking about a three-hour show that airs every week, 52 weeks a year. And then you have to factor in Smackdown as well.

The overwhelming majority of matches in the history of Raw and Smackdown (as well as Superstars, Main Event, Wrestling Challenge, Prime Time Wrestling, etc.) have been thrown-together matches with no (recently) established backstory or animosity between the competitors. That's the point. Matches that are meant as a payoff to angles are generally intended for PPV.
