No Mercy 2002 - October 29, 2022 [SPECIAL RETURN 50th EDITION]

The Classic PPV Live Discussion series returns for a very special edition. After 9 months off, we are back for our 50th SHOW!

I wanted to go with a show from the Halloween season. Of course, Halloween Havoc was the first PPV considered, but upon looking over the options, I felt compelled to go with No Mercy 2002. Historically, shows from 2000-2002 have really been our bread and butter, but somehow we haven't gotten to this October classic yet. This show boasts:

- Triple H vs. Kane in a World Heavyweight Championship/Intercontinental Championship unification match as a part of their memorable feud that saw Kane lose his mask.
- A timeless and brutal Hell in a Cell matchup between Brock Lesnar and Undertaker, for the WWE Championship.
- One of the greatest tag team matches in WWE history - Edge & Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle in the finals of the WWE Tag Team Championship tournament.
- Classic early 2000s cruiserweight division action, as Tajiri and Jamie Noble battle for the title.
- More fun shit, like Trish Stratus vs. Victoria, the team of Chris Jericho & Christian facing BookDust, everyone's favorite storyline is featured as Dawn Marie takes on Torrie Wilson, and there's even Ric Flair facing Rob Van Dam.

Giving a good amount of heads up for this one, so hopefully we have a respectable turnout. Tried to make sure this didn't clash with any other major wrestling shows either.

Going through 2002 right now and almost to this event. Two very controversial storylines at the time: The Undertaker's affair on SmackDown and Katie Vick on Raw. These two storylines somehow made its way to the main event and almost tarnished what the superstars were doing at the time.

And what a treat that tag match is. Edge and Mysterio versus Benoit and Angle would sell any seat in the house.

There are two excellent matches on this show, Edge and Rey vs. Benoit and Angle and Taker vs. Lesnar HIAC.

I watched it this morning since I won't be able to next weekend, and it was on the path of my 2002 journey.

I feel like the first 30 minutes this section is going to have a FIELD DAY with the show hahaha. Heck, the entire show has its questionable moments lol


I won't spoil in case anyone's not seen it haha, twenty years later. This was a good decision for the board.
