G1 Climax Night 4 (July 23) Preview 【G135】

Nagaoka sees third night for B Block
enBblock-1.jpg

After A Block do battle in their third league matches July 22, up next is B Block, who head to Ao-re Nagaoka with fast starters eager to keep momentum high, and early backmarkers needing to catch up approaching the middle phase of the tournament.
Watch ALL G1 Climax action live in English on NJPW World!
Get tickets to Tokyo events and be with us in person!

Main event: Shota Umino (1-1) vs Zack Sabre Jr. (1-1)
Singles record: 3-2 Sabre

20250723_G1_10.jpg

It's a rematch of the Wrestle Kingdom main event in top billing tonight as Zack Sabre Jr. take son Shota Umino. In last year's G1, it was victory for Umino over Sabre that would propel the Roughneck to a Tokyo Dome opportunity of a lifetime, and defeat in that biggest of chances would put Umino at perhaps his lowest state mentally. With such violent swings in matches against ZSJ characteristic of the swings his entire disposition has taken over the last eighteen months in particular, this match is no doubt one to keep a very close eye on when it comes to Shota Umino.

At two points each, both competitors seem even going in tonight, but Sabre has wrestled one fewer match, his two points coming via forfeit to Gabe Kidd. That bears with it its own mental scarring and frustration, but nowhere near the damage that Shota Umino bears on his neck after a crunching piledriver and the Drilla Killa at the hands of Drilla Moloney Sunday. Will that damage prove to be the key for Sabre's victory tonight?

9th Match: Shingo Takagi (0-2) vs Gabe Kidd (0-2)
Singles record: 2-1 Takagi

20250723_G1_09.jpg

As evidenced in last year's memorable Fukuoka clashes between Gabe Kidd and Shingo Takagi, the Dragon and the Mad Man have a mutual affinity for one another when it comes to in ring style that matches their mutual animosity as personalities. One of the matches of the tournament last year, tonight sees the two winless competitors in B Block squaring off, but one has to wonder about the physical status of Kidd. Gabe promised that his G1 wasn't over and that as soon as he could walk, he would crush the remaining competition. Can he live up to that promise on a brutally short recovery time tonight?

8th Match: Great-O-Khan (1-1) vs Konosuke Takeshita (1-1)
20250723_G1_08.jpg

Sharing a playoff elimination fate from 2024, Great-O-Khan and Konosuke Takeshita square off for the first time ever in Nagaoka. Last year in this building, O-Khan set himself on track to the playoffs with victory over then IWGP World Heavyweight Champion and defending G1 winner Tetsuya Naito. Added toa key confidence restoring first win over Shingo Takagi on Sunday and O-Khan is sure to be riding high against a Takeshita who lost his last against El Phantasmo. Who will get to four points?

7th Match: El Phantasmo (1-1) vs Ren Narita (1-1)
Singles record: 1-1

20250723_G1_07.jpg

ELP and Ren Narita's 1-1 singles record tells one story, but where and when the wins happened tell quite another that's key to this matchup. Phantasmo's win over Narita came not in G1 competition, but Best of the Super Jr. way back in 2019, where a visa issue withdrawal led Narita to become a late minute Young Lion addition. Fast forward five years, and it was a very different Narita that faced and beat Phantasmo in the heavyweight G1 stakes.

That very different Narita managed to start his G1 with a win over the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr., and wants to defeat another champion tonight. He will have to put a frustrating defeat to YOSHI-HASHI Sunday behind him to do so though; buoyed by a big victory over Konosuke Takeshita on night two, will ELP continue riding his high so success tonight?

6th Match: YOSHI-HASHI (2-0) vs Drilla Moloney (2-0)
20250723_G1_06.jpg

The first block match of the night pits YOSHI-HASHI against Drilla Moloney. As schedules were being determined for G1 Climax 35, match makers were likely not expecting that our first match of the tournament bouts tonight would determine who leaves Nagaoka at the top of the point standings. Yet after Drilla Moloney put away Great-O-Khan and Shota Umino, and YOSHI-HASHI defeated both Shingo Takagi and Ren Narita in Sapporo, that's the position we're in. For one man, a two match hot run will turn into a three bout streak, but which will it be?

5th Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi & Katsuya Murashima vs War Dogs (David Finlay & Gedo)
20250723_G1_05.jpg

With Hiroshi Tanahashi set to meet David Finlay in a clash of Rebel versus establishment on Friday in Ota, tag team action will see the Ace team with his attendant Katsuya Murashima for this preview. With Gedo in Finlay's corner, both sides have veteran wiles and outright aggression in their favour.

4th Match: Yota Tsuji & Daiki Nagai vs TMDK (Ryohei Oiwa & Hartley Jackson)
20250723_G1_04.jpg

Daiki Nagai teams with Yota Tsuji as his unaffiliated run continues. Opposite the independent duo are an imposing force of Ryohei Oiwa and Hartley Jackson. Who makes a mark before Oiwa and Tsuji battle in Ota Friday?

3rd Match: Taichi & Masatora Yasuda vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (EVIL & Dick Togo)
20250723_G1_03.jpg

Before Taichi sees EVIL in A Block in two days, HOUSE OF TORTURE face a Taichi and Masatora Yasuda team. It'll be a hard hill to climb against EVIL and Dick Togo at the best of times; add the likely presence of Don Fale and there's a lot to overcome.

2nd Match: Yuya Uemura & Shoma Kato vs United Empire (Callum Newman & Jakob Austin Young)
20250723_G1_02.jpg

Jakob Austin Young joins the United Empire mix as he and Callum Newman face Yuya Uemura and Shoma Kato. Will Newman set the pace against the Heat Storm?

1st Match: Boltin Oleg & Toru Yano vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (SANADA & Yoshinobu Kanemaru)
20250723_G1_01.jpg

We kick off with the Big Man From Kazakhstan Boltin Oleg and Toru Yano as a pair of amateur greats face a pair of professional agitators in Yoshinobu Kanemaru and SANADA. Will SANADA be playing a victorious tune ahead of their Ota meeting Friday?

So yeah that tells more than likely they should just shut it down and have him drop out. He's too important a piece for the Company long term to have him go out there like they did with Akira and make the injury worse.

G1 Climax 35 Night 5 (July 25) Preview 【G135】

First of two nights in Ota
enAblock-2.jpg

Friday July 25 sees the G1 make its first Tokyo stop in the historic Ota ward Gymnasium. A Block are back in the spotlight, with five block matches to come, and the midway point coming fast.
Watch live in English on NJPW World!
Event tickets available worldwide in English!

Main event: Hiroshi Tanahashi (1-2) vs David Finlay (1-2)
20250725_G1_10.jpg

Despite David Finlay being in the NJPW sphere for over a decade now, and with two and a half years at the head of BULLET CLUB, he has never battled Hiroshi Tanahashi in singles action. That changes tonight in Ota, where the Ace faces the Rebel at the top of the card. It's been a mixed start to the G1 for both men; after Tanahashi's victory in his first bout over Taichi, damage heading into night two saw defeat at the hands of Callum Newman, and the power of Boltin Oleg led to his second loss in a row. Finlay meanwhile recovered from a night one loss to Ryohei Oiwa to score a match two win over SANADA, before Taichi's toughness saw the Holy Emperor edge out the Rebel. Who can win out as the battle for control of A Block heats up?

9th Match: Yota Tsuji (2-1) vs Ryohei Oiwa (2-1)
20250725_G1_09.jpg

In what's sure to be a hot semi main event, Yota Tsuji and Ryohei Oiwa go one on one for the first time. Back during World Tag League, and again in Korakuen Hall exchanges since, Oiwa and Tsuji locking horns has always seen a lot of aggression from both sides, and a lot of fervour from the fans to boot. Tonight is their first singles matchup, and at four points for Oiwa and Tsuji both, a crucial one for both men. One will take at least a joint lead of A Block tonight, but who will it be?

8th Match:Taichi (2-1) vs EVIL (2-1)
Singles record: 1-0 EVIL

20250725_G1_08.jpg

For the first time in four years, and only the second ever, Taichi faces EVIL in singles competition. After wins over Yuya Uemura and David Finlay back to back, Taichi sits at four points, while EVIL's HOUSE OF TORTURE derby in Sendai Wednesday saw his undefeated record fall to 2-1. While Taichi has only wrestled EVIL in a singles setting once, he has plenty of previous with HOUSE OF TORTURE as a whole, and will be mentally ready for Dick Togo and Don Fale's inevitable presence. Will he be physically ready to deal with it though?

7th Match: Yuya Uemura (-) vs Callum Newman (1-2)
20250725_G1_07.jpg

Yuya Uemura transitions from main events with his senior in Taichi and contemporary in Yota Tsuji to face a junior figure in Callum Newman for his fourth G1 bout. Yet while Newman is significantly younger than Uemura, he's not lacking in big match experience, and not entirely in results either. A second night win over Hiroshi Tanahashi could do much for Callum's mentality tonight, especially as Uemura himself fell to the Ace last month at Dominion. Will he be able to quell the Heat Storm in Ota tonight?

6th Match: Boltin Oleg (2-1) vs SANADA (1-2)
20250725_G1_06.jpg

Big Man From Kazakhstan Boltin Oleg seeks to power himself to six points as he faces the currently X SANADA tonight. SANADA might be the Cold Blooded Snake, but a hot blooded eagerness to use his classical instincts rather than his recently adopted dirty tactics brought him a pair of defeats to start the G1. Then in Sendai Tuesday, a HOUSE OF TORTURE derby with EVIL resulted in a surprise win for SANADA. Now, can the Cold Blooded Snake follow up from his quick thinking victory, or fresh after a second career win over Hiroshi Tanahashi, will the Big Man From Kazakhstan move closer to pole position in A Block?

5th Match: Daiki Nagai & Shingo Takagi vs Don Callis Family (Rocky Romero & Konosuke Takeshita)
20250725_G1_05.jpg

Saturday in Ota, we'll be in for a hard hitting roller coaster of a bout when Konosuke Takeshita takes on Shingo Takagi. Tonight's preview will see Daiki Nagai looking to continue establishing himself as an Unaffiliated player; with Rocky Romero and the Don Callis Family constantly recruiting, might there be ulterior motives at play behind this tag bout as well?

4th Match: Tomoaki Honma & Shota Umino vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (Ren Narita & Yoshinobu Kanemaru)
20250725_G1_04.jpg

Shota Umino reforms his World Tag League tandem with Tomoaki Honma in the night's fourth tag preview to face HOUSE OF TORTURE. The Roughneck's bitter feud with Ren Narita saw violent battles in early 2024, and while distance between the two saw them mainly out of one another's sight, they clearly have not been out of mind; expect a heated and hate filled preview tonight.

3rd Match: Jado & El Phantasmo vs TMDK (Hartley Jackson & Zack Sabre Jr.)
20250725_G1_03.jpg

There will be much less hate involved, but certainly no love lost in our third match of the night. El phantasmo and Zack Sabre Jr. have a mutual respect and friendship away from the ring that will evaporate when the bell sounds for their first singles match in the cerulean blue Saturday. Who can get the upper hand before then?

2nd Match: War Dogs (Gedo & Gabe Kidd) vs War Dogs (Taiji Ishimori & Drilla Moloney)
20250725_G1_02.jpg

A difficult week is putting things mildly for Gabe Kidd, who hyperextended his knee Saturday in his first G1 bout and has since had to weight up his physical condition with his mental desire to have the biggest matches of his tournament campaign. Kidd will not want to pass up the chance to wrestle a man he considers his brother in Drilla Moloney though. That will be the case Saturday in Ota, and if the Mad man is ready to go, an all War Dogs tag preview awaits in our second bout.

1st Match: Shoma Kato & YOSHI-HASHI vs United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Jakob Austin Young)
20250725_G1_01.jpg

Starting off the night's action, YOSHI-HASHI and Great-O-Khan engage in a preview of their Saturday clash. With Jakob Austin Young and Shoma Kato filling out the teams for this Hontai and United Empire clash, who will set the pace?

For sure he's trying to audition for Chippendales there in Japan. I gotta get in the most recent Show to line me up for Friday.

Come on Khan why are we slamming back first Takeshita off the top of the Rail?
