A CLEAN SWITCHBLADE?
The “Cleaner” Kenny Omega© aka the current reigning and defending IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Fresh off successfully defending the gold against winner of the 2018 G1 Climax tournament in Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom.

Didn’t have much of a chance to recover his bearings as his next challenger made himself known after the match. This being a victorious “Switchblade” Jay White who faced off with and defeated the “Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada at the same event. White with his manager Gedo alongside him launched a post-match beatdown on Omega.

Making two things abundantly clear to the fans in attendance, first he was coming for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. And second that Omega and the others who call themselves the Elite were no longer part of Bullet Club.

Y2J DESTINO TAKE TWO
Tetsuya Naito walked into the Wrestle Kingdom 13 ppv event in the role of challenger. With his eyes clearly set on the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. When everything was said and done and the smoke had cleared away.

He aka Naito was successful in his goal as he defeated then champion “Y2J” Chris Jericho©. Not one to take losing nicely the enraged former champion aka Jericho. Took to social media to state that he wanted his rematch for the gold at New Year’s Dash, something Naito was completely find with.

2 OUT OF 3 FALLS JR HEAVYWEIGHT ACTION
As a direct result of another case of championship gold changing hands at Wrestle Kingdom. A rematch for the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Championship was announced for the New Year’s Dash event. But this would not be a straight up singles rematch, no sir this time around Taiji Ishimori© and Kushida. Would meet in a best two out of three encounter.

LOS INGOBERNABLES DE BULLET
Los Ingobernables De Japon had a massive night at the Wrestle Kingdom 13 event. Both in terms of victories and more importantly of capturing championship gold. With the duo of Bushi & Shingo Takagi capturing the JR Heavyweight Tag Team Championship Suzuki-Gun.

And the team of Evil and Sanada picking up the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship from the Guerrillas of Destiny.

It was announced by NJPW management that both sets of tag team gold would be up for grabs in an eight-man tag team match. Los Ingobernables De Japon© versus Guerrillas of Destiny, Robbie Eagles and a debuting BC member.

The opening contest saw the IWGP NEVER Openweight Tag Team Championship up for grabs. As the defending champions Suzuki-Gun, represented by Minoru Suzuki and the Killer Elite Squad (DBS Jr & Lance Archer) ©. Were challenged by the former champions aka Bullet Club represented by Bad Luck Fale, Chase Owens and Yujiro Takahashi. Archer got the win for his team by forcing Owens to pass out to the EBD Claw.

Next up Taiji Ishimori© defeated Kushida in a thrilling two out of three falls match. Which saw the IWGP JR Heavyweight Championship up for grabs.

Then it was time for gang warfare as both sets of the company’s tag team championships. On the line as Los Ingobernables De Japon (Bushi, Evil, Sanada & Shingo Takagi) ©. Faced the Guerrillas of Destiny, Robbie Eagles and the debuting BC member Flip Gordon. In the end Evil hit Everything is Evil on Gordon for the deciding fall. After the match the Bullet Club destroyed Gordon making his time as a member very short indeed.

In the fourth match of the event which saw not one but two of the company’s championships on the line. As the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhode© defeated Kota Ibushi©. To retain the IWGP United States and claiming the IWGP NEVER Openweight Championship.

The penultimate match of the night saw Tetsuya Naito© successfully retain the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. Against the very man that he defeated to become the new champion aka Chris Jericho.

Finally, the ppv closed out with a singles match for the top prize. Aka the IWGP Heavyweight Championship as Kenny Omega©. Attempted to contend with Jay White who had his manager Gedo in his corner. Despite a heroic effort from the defending champion, he would fail his attempt to remain champion. As White escaped an attempted One-Winged Angel and proceeded to hit the Blade Runner for the win.
