Unless the claimant is investigative immune and comes back town, it's a bad fake to claim as scum as it can easily be found out by other roles.

Yea but rarely are VT's lynched right off the bat, unless there's clear counter-evidence, like an observed action. So a VT claim could at the very least buy you another phase (if you're scum).

You could reasonably say I'm buying time, yeah, I don't disagree. But a vanilla townie claim only buys you so much time until you're found out eventually.
