SAN FRANCISCO -- Struggling wide receiver Braylon Edwards was released by the San Francisco 49ers following surgery on his right knee earlier this season that limited his ability.

Edwards tweeted the news Tuesday, attributing the move to his injury, which "required more time to rehab and hasn't allowed me to re-sync with the offense."

The 49ers confirmed Edwards' release. "I wish the 49ers organization the best of luck during the playoffs," Edwards said in a statement on his web site. "I will be working hard this off season to strengthen my knee and prepare for the 2012 season. Thanks for your continued support and for being such loyal fans."

No surprise there really.

So apparently there are some who are saying it was classless for the Saints to go for the record the way they did. Totally disagree with that notion. Not like he needed a 100 more so started flinging it and doing a onside kick to get the ball back to make sure they did it. Falcon players know they're passing so stop it and if you can't too bad.

Yeah i heard about that, it's dumb. Tom Brady now has a chance this weekend to break Marino's record and Brees's record, think they said he's like 190 yards away from doing so and playing the Bills this weekend.

Really? damn didn't know Brady was that much in striking distance. Thought Rodgers was closer than Tom.

Terrell Owens back with the 49ers? Exploring the possibility was done out of pure speculation Tuesday after San Francisco released veteran wide receiver Braylon Edwards.

But, as it turns out, there is some genuine interest -- from T.O., that is. Owens, who has wanted to get back in the NFL all season, had former Bills teammate and current 49ers safety Donte Whitner give him a shoutout, via Twitter, that is sure to have San Francisco fans either rolling their eyes or pumping their fists.

"@DonteWhitner Let em kno if they need me, I'm ready homie!! I'm ready 2 take em deep!!" T.O. tweeted Wednesday.

To which Whitner responded: "@terrellowens I know u are! And I'm ready to Vouch for...and let everyone kno how GREAT of a teammate u were in buffalo!"

Oh Man. hah

The NFL has fined Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch $10,000 for wearing cleats with pictures of Skittles on them in the team's Sunday loss to the San Francisco 49ers. It is Lynch's second uniform violation of the year — he was tagged for $5,000 earlier in the season for wearing green socks. Lynch's history with Skittles is well-known
