I don't understand the hate. Palmer is a cry baby but he wasn't bad last year. Average at worst.

He is just highly overpaid. Arizona will give us a 7th rounder for him and he will restructure his deal.

As for Matt Flynn, we gave up a 2014 5th and 2015 Conditional. Not bad.

Hey, that's one heck of a deal. Glad to see you were able to work something out with Matt, and nice fleecing of the Cardinals. Wouldn't be happy with the sticking your future with Flynn, but if Matt surprises this was one heck of a day.

From what I saw (sure you don't care but) you've got 30 million in dead money, and you increased his guaranteed money quite a bit and still have plenty of cap room for next year. Maybe there is some optimism in the Bay Area

Colts sign DHB, 1 year 3 mil/1.5 mil guaranteed

The Bengals pulled off one of the most one sided trades in NFL history on the Raiders. Flynn is ight(trade wasn't bad), but i'd roll with Pryor, or atleast implement him into the offense.

I'm hearing more Alec Ogletree, but you probably know more about the situation. Hey, if they actually want to actually steal a headline away from the Jets, what better way than to pick up Te'o?

Dolph's, it's official, Flynn to Oakland... Not a fan

6 years 55 mil guaranteed for Romo... Jerry Jones, have you lost your damn mind? Don't answer that

Mel Kiper projected him to the giants.

Trading for Matt Flynn isn't exactly my idea of a good time. I don't think the guy can play. He isn't a leader and has a Ryan Fitzpatrick-esque popgun for an arm.

I desperately wanted to move Palmer and put our eggs in Terrell Pryor's basket this season. I am a big fan of the kid. He is a LEADER with WORK ETHIC who wants nothing but to be the best of his abilities. He has a ton of natural talent and a strong enough arm. He is sporadic with accuracy but this is a direct result of footwork in the pocket and mechanics, something our coaches are paid to improve.

Best case scenario of going a year with TP: We find out he is a baller, we go 7-9 or 8-8 but we decide Pryor is the future.

Worst case? It's hardly even bad. We completely fall apart and go 2-14, resulting in Teddy big dick Bridgewater coming to town.

Instead we trade for Flynn, pay him 5 mill for the next two years.. he is already 28... so what is likely to happen is he takes our win total from 3 to 5 and we take ourselves right out of a top 5 selection and miss out on all of the amazing prospects like Bridgewater, Clowney and to a lesser extent white Mike Vick johnnny football

But yea, we have 40 mill in dead cap off the book starting next offseason, so things will get better. I just wish we had the balls to give Pryor a shot, but McKenzie is trying to completely seperate this team from the one Al Davis was running. We have like 10 guys left from when Al was around in 2011. Yea, 2 years and we have already had 90% roster turnover... and that's with half a draft last year and before the draft this year. McKenzie has cut nearly everyone that was making any sort of money.

tldr? maybe

Oh and lovely to see DHB in Indy. Very happy with that. He will be great w/ Luck. Same with Nnamdi to SF. He should bounce back nicely there.

It was a perfect storm for Cincy to fleece us.

Think about it.

1.) Cincy had been approached before by teams to trade Palmer. They WEREN'T TRADING HIM. We had to up our price just to bring them to the negotiating table (stupid on our part, obviously). They were just wanting to stick it to him and ruin his career, no joke.
2.) Perfect shit storm in our organization. The FRANCHISE, Al Davis, had died 2 weeks before. Owner, GM and face of the team. For 40+ years. No one person is more synonymous with a team than Al to his Raiders. We amazingly enough have no contingency plan in place for his death. Somehow Hue Jackson becomes a temporary psuedo GM (uh oh)
3.) We beat the Browns, are 4-2 and in first place. In that game, Jason Campbell injures his collar bone, done for the year. The trade deadline is 72 hours away and Hue is now on the clock with more power than he ever dreamed of having.
4.) Hue was good friends with Carson Palmer. Not just coach/player (which they were at USC) but they were friends on a personal level

Mix all that in with the Raiders first real chance to make a playoff run in a decade and you get a terrible decision. I was happy about it at the time because I was willing to ignore longterm ramifications for potential short term benefit.

In my mind we were already a good team, and Palmer was > Campbell.

As it turns out Palmer was better, but not right away. He didn't start the first game, and we saw why we had brought him in . Kyle Boller was awful, as we lost 28-0 to the Chiefs.

After the bye it is Palmer's turn to start, and he was OK, but it took him a long while to get back in rhythm and understandably so. we limp to an 8-8 finish in large part due to injuries, never getting our best player back from lizfranc (McFadden) losing a huge playmaker for the year in Ford, and losing DHB/Moore for stretches as well.

back to back tldrs. I'm on fire.

Disagree with Matt Flynn not being a leader, he did a pretty good job down at LSU, but I definitely agree with that arm. I hate this trade right now, hate it hate it hate it, just trying to inspire a little optimism.

He just seems like a guy who's not good enough to get you to the playoffs, but too good for you to suck hard enough to get a great pick, which is the worst place to be in. Welcome to Tampa Bay. Hey, that dude from Clemson's coming out, Boyd, maybe you can pick him up? And hell, maybe Flynn's injury-prone and you'll get your wish, we don't really know yet.

EDIT: You basically said this whole thing, missed that paragraph

San Fran got a steal, Asomugha's gotta be really motivated. Tracy Porter to Oakland? Eh, why not

Dolph's is never tldr, it's tldr if you're a boring fuck posting really long shit.

I got the leadership bit from people in Seattle. Apparently he was 1.) pissed he had to compete with Wilson and 2.) Was upset when he lost the job and became basically a secluded and bad teammate.

Boyd? gross dude. If we can't get Bridgewater, an elite QB prospect, we may as well wait longer.

If Matt Flynn has great players around him he can look OK, or even great at times. with shit around him like he will have here it is going to hopefully get ugly. I want 0-2 wins, not 4-6.

Good post, can't really add anything to that because it all made sense.

Tommy Kelly to the Pats could be a sneaky signing. He is a very good interior pass rusher.

Raiders grab Mike Jenkins to pair w/ Porter. Not a great duo, but leaps and bounds ahead of Ron Bartell and Spencer

You damn right. According to a former scout for the team that was just released, he'll be the pick if available. Seems like a perfect fit, thought I'd see what you thought though.

Been hearing a lot about some of the UT guys making it over to Oakland, especially Tyler Bray (god no), but doubt that's true. Seems like more "lolRaiders" propaganda that should have died off with Al. Mostly hear Buffalo for all.

Wow. Antoine Winfield to the Seahawks. (Holy shit are you kidding me? Winfield's an awesome player for his age, and he'll be the #3. Seahawks are killing it.)

Rolando McClain to Baltimore, awesome.
