Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Lupe Fiasco fans and his label can now breathe a sigh of relief, and both have reason to celebrate: The artist's third studio album, "Lasers," finally has a release date.

Last week, Lupe tweeted a picture of himself and Atlantic Records President Julie Greenwald that was all smiles. The artist had been dealing with months of tension with his label over the release of “Lasers," and the photo came a week before fans' protests - dubbed “FiascoFriday” - were set to take place outside of Atlantic’s offices in New York City, with another march set in Chicago.

According to the artist, “Lasers” will hit shelves March 8, 2011, with the first single coming out October 26 via his website.

This is a mission accomplished for Lupe's fans, who'd even created an online petition demanding a release date for "Lasers," which now has more than 30,000 signatures.

In an interview with MTV News in July, Lupe said he thought the label felt the pressure brought on by his listeners. “For them to see 16,000 people say, ‘This is what we want and what we want now'...They love to see fans that actually care.”

Fansite The LupE.N.D. Blog released a statement encouraging Lupe lovers to continue on with their rallies with a change in the message.

“Even though we got a release date for Lupe’s ‘Lasers’ and for the first single off the album, there will still be a #FiascoFriday on October 15th,” the blog post read. “But instead of it being a protest it’ll be a celebratory march/event.”

I am really hoping that this is a legit date this time... Not like all the other B.S release dates... I have been waiting for this for idk how long lol

Add French Montana to the Freshman 2011 list. This guy is everywhere and he's growing on me.

Yeah... As hardcore of an Eminem fan I am (me and Nino have went rounds on him lol) that was fucking trash. Em's verse was odd and very non-Shady lol... It sounded like he is trying to cater to the YM crowd, he was repeating himself quite a bit and lyrically speaking is just weak.

I am not a Nicki fan... At all, but her 1st verse wasn't too bad. I didn't even listen after Em's verse lol I couldn't it was just... HORRIBLE.

edit- To all the other Lupe fans:

I really am liking this song... Lupe's verse was pretty good, could have been better but pretty good... Buck was pretty good also

Not sure if this is official but:

It sounds like they tried way to hard to make this epic. I am the biggest Em fan on IWF. But this was weak, Eminem sounds like he is all rapped out for atleast a few months lol

I personally liked Roman's Revenge and LTWYL 2.... they are both pretty good songs. A bit odd, yes, but they're decent.

Chip's really beast, I love his work, he has potential.

Love The Way You Lie Part 2 sounded better after I listened to it a few times... I heard that the version I posted isn't even the finished version, but pretty solid, Em's verse was pretty good but I honestly felt that they were trying to make it epic lol.

Roman's Revenge was just.... IDK strange lol.
