Some hip-hop news/rumors:
Weezy says he's pushed back Da Carter 3 to 2008. He's recording some other albums in the meantime and has some liquor deal in the works. His clothing line Double U is the Female line and Foreign Money is the male line. But he made a point to emphasize he fact he's single and says he's not with any of the chicks (Trina, Solo, Supahead) people are claiming. Basically they're keeping their jump off titles. But dude sounded like he was ready to dip into his ex-stash telling Nivea he wants her to get at him.

Hip Hop may be going green soon. Leonardo DiCaprio has been secretly meeting with folks like Q-Tip, Hov, and Russell Simmons to partner up on a concert series focusing on environmental awareness.

Remember that situation that had began to circulate between Hot 97's DJ Green Lantern and DJ Kay Slay some months back? Kay Slay got on camera and was clowning Green Lantern's "mixing and blending" abilities... which kind of made Kay Slay look, well, like a hater. So to clear that all up, Kay Slay recently sat down with Hiphopgame and spanned an interview so long, I began skipping around. The interview was long, but it filled in a lot of blanks:
We [Green Lantern and I] had a good relationship," said Kay Slay to HHG. "Dude [Lantern] took advice of Uncle Murder's manager to stop playing Pap's records and to stop supporting me unless I played Uncle. That's when everything between me and him started going left. We didn't even have no problems at the time. He just got on the side of a team that was hating and he hated with them."
Now that everyone understands the falling out between the two popular DJs (who once joined forces to create that crack On My New York Sh*t mixtape back in early '06), check out the little bit of intelligence Kay Slay was trying drop:
If you dont have any originality to bring to the rap game, you need to focus on maybe being an engineer or something closely related to that because right now, there are more rappers than there are fans. Every fan decided to rap. They all want to be a rapper. I'm not trying to discourage anybody. You reach your goals, but if you don't have any originality to bring to the table, you may need to get into somethiing else because its rough right now, especially if you're coming from New York."
If Papoose hadn't been as relentless as he was with the standing outside of Hot 97 with his demos every day until Kay Slay listened, he'd probably be one of these New York rappers who need to take heed to most of, if not all of, Kay Slay's above quote.
And that goes for most rappers outside of NY as well.
