New XBOX Details (Rumors)

Has there been many rumours for the PS4 like the ones above for the new Xbox?
Just curious to see how different they sound...

You're very welcome. That's the one I had been reading at the time, but it seemed pretty informative. To me the PS4 seems better, but I completely agree that the lack of backwards compatibility and not being able to do used games anymore would be detrimental.

Of course, the newer PS3 systems also didn't have backwards compatibility, but that's not a problem because on the PSN there is a data "thing" (can't think of what specifically it would be now) that you can download which does allow you to play PS2 games on it, so it works out well. If that part ends up being true, maybe there will be something similar for the PS4.

As at as I've heard Sony has patented the technology but aren't using it.

No offline is just stupid. My xbox is my saviour when my internet goes out. Definitely going to the PS4 if this is real. There isn't many XBOX only games that I'd miss to be honest, and I would get to play God of War if I moved back to Playstation.

As long as my homies here go to PS4 for Fifa sessions then it's all good.

But the Playstation is more than likely going to be exactly the same considering they've bought out Gaikai a game streaming company.

And that's pretty much the point, they want their DRM to take full control over all the sales on their games and not make people like GameStop/EB Games profit over used games.

Guessing in the next few console generations gaming will be completely streamed, could be a possibility this one considering Sony's bought Gaikai.

Judging on this, the next gen Xbox looks to be expensive and limited. I buy most of my games so that's not a problem for me, but if Xbox is relying solely on the internet I'm expecting not to pay for some sort of membership. Other than that I see no reason to switch to Playstation at the moment. If Playstation pulls the whole $600 price thing like they did with PS3 I'm not switching there for sure. Xbox also better make sure they don't have manufacturing problems like they did with this gen.

If Xbox is the only new console to block reusing games then it will come back to bite them in the ass. Since why would a game store encourage customers to buy a 720 when they can encourage them to get a PS4 or Wiiu and then be able to make the extra money off reselling used games?

Another good point, I do hope this is false, but I'm inclined to believe microsoft would be this silly

I like the idea that I can buy any game straight from the marketplace. It's limited to only specific titles now and usually not when it releases. My 360 is always connected to the internet so i'm not sure how it would bother me unless my internet was cut out. (which happens from time to time) Otherwise I have no choice, because I signed a 2 year xbox live contract in december.

Reading this thread has killed almost all my enthusiasm for the next gen of consoles (excluding Wii U of course). I guess if true (and I see no reason to believe it won't be) instead of getting all three systems like I did this generation, I'll be opting to just get Nintendo's.
