FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NWPW Announces Week 1 Matchups for the 2026 Middleweight Grand Prix

Long Beach & Amarillo Set to Host Opening Round Bouts Live on Amazon Prime

Las Vegas, NV — New World Pro-Wrestling (NWPW)
is proud to announce the official opening-round matchups for Week 1 of the 2026 Middleweight Grand Prix, the eight-man global tournament that will crown the inaugural NWA Middleweight Champion at SuperClash, live February 14, 2026, from Madison Square Garden on Amazon Prime PPV.

The Grand Prix launches across two major broadcasts: Battle: Long Beach on January 6 and Thursday Night Fights: Amarillo on January 8.

BATTLE: LONG BEACH

Saturday, January 6, 2026

Walter Pyramid — Long Beach, California
LIVE on Amazon Prime

The road to Madison Square Garden begins on the West Coast with two marquee tournament bouts featuring international icons and fierce American contenders.

• Andrade El Idolo vs. Karl Fredericks

A blockbuster opening-round clash. Andrade El Idolo returns to the U.S. with championship aspirations, bringing unmatched agility and precision. Karl Fredericks enters Long Beach with momentum and a point to prove — refusing to let this Grand Prix be a coronation for anyone but himself. A high-intensity tone-setter for the entire tournament.

• Santos Escobar vs. Trent Seven

A collision of elite ring generals. Santos Escobar’s hybrid Lucha style meets Trent Seven’s bruising British strength and veteran savvy. Both men have the skill — and ego — to take over this bracket, making this one of the most unpredictable matchups of the opening week.

THURSDAY NIGHT FIGHTS: AMARILLO

Thursday, January 8, 2026

Amarillo Civic Center — Amarillo, Texas
LIVE on Amazon Prime

The tournament then moves to the heart of Texas for two of the most technically intriguing bouts in the Grand Prix.

• Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Titus Alexander

A generational matchup. Zack Sabre Jr., the odds-on favourite thanks to his world-renowned submission mastery, clashes with West Coast prodigy Titus Alexander — a wrestler who blends speed, timing, and unpredictability. A definitive test of composure and technique under pressure.

• Timothy Thatcher vs. Drilla Moloney

Violence meets discipline. Thatcher’s suffocating grappling and ruthless efficiency collide with Drilla Moloney’s explosive striking and pressure-first offence. This is the kind of matchup that defines the tone of a tournament — no wasted motion, no quit, pure intensity.

The 2026 Middleweight Grand Prix Competitors

  • Zack Sabre Jr.
  • Santos Escobar
  • Trent Seven
  • Andrade El Idolo
  • Timothy Thatcher
  • Karl Fredericks
  • Drilla Moloney
  • Titus Alexander
The winners of Week 1 advance toward the semifinals, with the Grand Prix culminating in the NWA Middleweight Championship Match at SuperClash on February 14.
