GIMP isn't terrible, I've made all my sigs on GIMP and they've turned out fine. If you want to keep going, that's good. It's not a death sentence to keep using it.
Just saying, but these are terrible.
Yeah, switch from GIMP and Paint and download Photoshop. Learn some tutorials and after a while you should start getting better. Much more things you can do in photoshop.
What can you do in photoshop that you can't do in GIMP?
Thanks. I appreciate the support. What can you do in photoshop that you can't do in GIMP?
Anyway, keep having a go bud and you'll be able to do some more complicated pieces but these are good for starters.
Thanks for the feedback. And it's good to know that I'm not worse than other beginners. I have nothing against Photoshop. Photoshop, I've seen, has produced well sigs. I have alot of my friends do Photoshop or GIMP. I used GIMP so I can make some banners, because you should have seen my previous work friend, it was awful. I just got done downloading GIMP and I want to work at it and give the program a chance to increase my skill. I'd love to succeed at GIMP. And then when I feel I've done good work with GIMP, I'd look into Photoshop. But nothing against Photoshop. Also, thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind for my future sigs/banners.There is very little technical advice I can offer because I've never used GIMP and I've heard for years that it is an inferior program. Nonetheless, most beginners regardless of software don't tend to produce higher quality work than this.
Might I ask what your objection is to Photoshop anyway? You've said you just started on GIMP and are committed to it, but I doubt you'll improve much with it as you'll hear many people say.
But as for general tips, I'd say scale down the size. When you do bigger sigs you just give yourself more akward, empty space to fill.
I'm not sure if it's gimp or just inexperience but I could whip up something that looks like the CM Punk one with Paint. Gradient tool>insert psd done.
