Jim Ross revealed that the new WWE NXT broadcast team is made up of Alex Riley and Tom Phillips. They are being coached by JR and Michael Cole.

No Regal :(

Who is Philips any good? Heard Riley on superstars the other week and he didn't do much for me but would give him a chance.

Can see this working out, Riley seems capable of fulfilling that secondary role in a more modern, in with the times version of Lawler where he doesn't get technical like you would get out of a Regal or Striker.

No idea who Tom Phillips is but Alex Riley is an unusual choice I could maybe get behind (if I still watched NXT, that is). He's nothing special in the ring, but he can still find a future by redeeming himself in other roles like a low-level/back-up commentator. He seems about as natural as one can be on the mic without a hook and if you put a suit on him he looks about 10 years older than he actually is, so I reckon Riley could make it work if they give him the time to improve because commentary is kind of a different beast.

FFS why did they fire Matt Striker only to put Alex Riley on commentary. Far out this is a weird decision. I have no issue with Phillips since he is a play by play announcer and is working his way up the ranks but don't understand the Riley decision.

Regal better end up with a spot on Smackdown, would be a waste if he isn't utilised as a colour commentator. Give him Smackdown with Matthews, JBL and Cole can have RAW and Lawler can have a pink slip.
