NJPW STRONG Preview: Narita vs Rosser, Jay White vs Wheeler Yuta 【NJoA】

Another stacked card Saturday

Week two of Fighting Spirit Unleashed on NJPW STRONG sees more fantastic action from Long Beach’s Thunder Studios. Big names take part in some big matches for the second week of STRONG before raucous Californian fans.
Watch NJPW STRONG Saturdays at 8/7c on NJPW World!
Or watch on FITE!

20210816_FSU_Ep59_3.jpg

Main event: Fred Rosser vs Ren Narita
Our main event sees Ren Narita go head to head with Fred Rosser. Rosser and Narita have been tagging with, and against each other for months, but in recent weeks, Rosser has been insulted by a perceived lack of respect from the LA Dojo youngster. When Narita beat Karl Fredericks in the headline match of LA Dojo Showcase 2, Rosser headed down to congratulate the Shibata student, but taking the Suntan Superman’s actions as disingenuous, Narita rejected Rosser’s hand. Stating that Rosser should ‘never overlook the LA Dojo’, while casting the shade of calling ‘Mr. No Days Off’ a ‘former superstar’, Narita has drawn Rosser’s ire in the worst way. Certainly Narita has never asked for a day off, and Rosser will expect his opponent to put in a long day at the office Saturday night.

20210816_FSU_Ep59_2.jpg

2nd Match: Wheeler Yuta vs Jay White
The second match of the night sees a big opportunity for Wheeler Yuta as he goes up against NEVER Openweight Champion Swicthblade Jay White. White’s title, defended against David Finlay back at Resurgence, will not be on the line tonight in Long Beach, but Yuta could buy himself a shot down the line with a win at Fighting Spirit Unleashed.

That obviously is an easier task said than done. After aggressively denying the challenge of Tomohiro Ishii to the NEVER gold in LA, Jay will be looking to remind the world that he defends his title on his own schedule, not anybody else’s.

20210816_FSU_Ep59_1.jpg

1st Match: Yuya Uemura & Yuji Nagata vs The DKC & Kevin Knight
Kicking off proceedings Saturday, Yuya Uemura will team with Yuji Nagata to face Kevin Knight and the DKC. Last we saw Uemura, he was being accepted into the LA Dojo after picking up an impressive tag team win at Resurgence. Now as his excursion officially gets underway, Nagata will be giving him one last sendoff, asthey take on rivals and partners in Knight and the DKC.

Strong was good this week, was able to catch that yesterday. Narita/Rosser was awesome, been one of my favorite simple feuds all year.

Have read the spoilers for the tapings this weekend too and bruh the United Empire member was a let down and a half :lol but then I thought about it a little more, and since it fits the angle from Resurgence it's only a regular let down.

I'll probs post those spoilers later but Kevin Kelly spoiled like 4 hours later on G1 commentary so they've probably already tweeted about it and shit :lol

STRONG Preview: Rush vs Lawlor 【NJoA】
STRONG Openweight Championship match headlines Saturday

The third and final week of STRONG in the hot environment of Thunder Studios in Long Beach will see the Fighting Spirit Unleashed series come to a close with the STRONG Openweight Championship on the line in a big time main event.
Watch STRONG Saturdays at 8/7c on NJPW World!
Or watch on FITE!

Main event: STRONG Openweight Championship- Tom Lawlor vs Lio Rush
20210816_FSU_Ep60_3.jpg

Filthy Tom Lawlor puts the STRONG Openweight Championship on the line in the main event, seeking his fourth defence against ‘Man of the Hour’ Lio Rush. Rush presents an exciting stylistic challenge for Lawlor in the FSU main event, bringing a pace and intensity that has made Lawlor sweat in preliminary tags on STRONG and at resurgence last month, and creating results that have granted this title bout. Yet it isn’t just pace that Rush brings; his amateur All American background means he is a proficient grappler, and will not be easily dominated by Lawlor’s submission work. Lawlor has sat at the top of the STRONG mountain for almost half a year now since winning New Japan Cup USA; could we be seeing a new champion crowned?

2nd Match: Chris Dickinson vs Royce Isaacs
20210816_FSU_Ep60_2.jpg

This week’s STRONG is full of Team Filthy singles matches, as Royce Isaacs will step in the ring against Chris Dickinson in the second match of the night. Back in Tag Team Turbulence, Violence Unlimited moved past the West Coast Wrecking Crew to make the finals of the tournament, so Isaacs wants singes revenge for tag team defeat. Two of the most powerful wrestlers on the STRONG roster will make for a hard hitting battle this Saturday.

1st Match: JR Kratos vs Fred Yehi
20210816_FSU_Ep60_1.jpg

Super heavyweight versus savageweight in the first match of the evening as Fred Yehi will take on JR Kratos. Yehi’s solid strength and pure wrestling ability is the match of anyone on STRONG, but how will he fare against the sheer power of STRONG’s Most Feared?

The best part of this episode was Tom Lawlor taking off a pair of denim shorts pre-main event to reveal his standard ring gear of denim shorts underneath :bosque

The first two matches were both great though, Kratos/Yehi I think could have been better but it was in the opener slot so they wrestled it as one which was fine. Loved Dickinson/Isaacs, literally become a bigger fan of Dickinson more every match I see him in.

Lawlor/Rush was great, went about as I expected. They're really maximizing the quality of the Strong title defenses when they happen, makes the belt feel like a big deal even if it's only being defended against Strong regulars. Narita/Lawlor gonna be great too :mark:

STRONG Preview: Parade of Champions, Autumn Attack 【NJoA】
Stacked card with champions in action Saturday

In what might be the biggest single episode of NJPW STRONG yet, Autumn Attack kicks off this Saturday at 8/7c with an incredible card in a parade of champions.
Watch Saturdays 8/7c on NJPW World!
Or watch every week on FITE!

Main event- Champion vs Champion: Jay White vs Robbie Eagles
20210925_AA_05.jpg

A first time ever singles main event will see the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Robbie Eagles face the NEVER Openweight Champion Switchblade Jay White. The first of its kind champion vs champion matchup will see Eagles show Texas, the US and the world at large the strength of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champ, but it will also be an opportunity for White to act on a long held grudge. It was two years ago that Robbie Eagles turned his back on BULLET CLUB to join his current factional home in CHAOS, actions that White was quick to decry. The Switchblade vowed that consequences would be coming directly to the Sniper of the Skies, and now seeks to prove a violent point.

2nd Match: STRONG Openweight Championship- Tom Lawlor vs Ren Narita
Singles record: 1-0 Lawlor

20210925_AA_03.jpg

Initially made as a special singles match, Tom Lawlor’s successful defence against Lio Rush at Fighting Spirit Unleashed will now open the door for the second STRONG title match in two weeks for the Filthy One. When Narita, fresh off his victory against Fred Rosser a fortnight ago, came out to challenge Lawlor after this Saturday’s main event, Lawlor was derisive in his dismissal of the LA Dojo member. ‘Do some more squats, do some more rolls and then maybe you’ll be worthy of losing to me’ was the response to Narita, who made a succinct counterpoint with a heavy boot to the face. Narita has done nothing but go from strength to strength since he was eliminated by Lawlor in new Japan Cup USA, but can he deal the first pinfall or submission loss to Lawlor in his STRONG career?

1st Match: Fred Rosser vs Minoru Suzuki
20210925_AA_01.jpg

The action will kick off with a first time ever singles encounter between Fred Rosser and Minoru Suzuki. It was one year ago that Rosser definitively proved himself as one of STRONG’s top flight when he battled Tom Lawlor in what was voted 2020’s STRONG match of the year. Now, as Suzuki goes on a tour of dominance across the United States, Rosser sees the King attempting to invade his turf on Saturday nights, and will do what it takes to defend the show he has made his own. Can he survive the King?

Coughlin was very impressive, and he is a really project for the future at this moment in time. There are some product of the LA Dojo, who I would say are actually behind him in terms of raw talent - and I include Karl Fredricks as one of those people

Stray Dog Army vs. Team Tanahashi - this has some potential for some interesting exchanges.

This is a hot take - but Bateman as a member of the House of Torture would be great addition, if HoT end up leaving the Bullet Club
