I'm upset this angle didn't lead to them being a new NOD type of stable who are sick of being held back with shit gimmicks. Is that rumor still a thing, or is it long dead??

Pretty sure that was only just a rumor, although there's word that maybe it actually was originally meant to be that, but the whole shooting of Michael Brown and the subsequent trial that followed pretty much killed it dead since they didn't want to be chastised in the media for touching on such sensitive topics (which is funny considering touching on hot-button issues would be the whole point.)
