This thread got bizarre but I kind of agree, his past is overshadowed either by lack of education as history is written by the victors or his change to being a saint. He did change his ways and achieve many great things which should be celebrated but his past is something I struggle to gloss over fully.

I think even his achievements are overstated by most. He brought 'equality' to some degree and democracy to some extent, but from what I can research he didn't really do much to improve South Africa, especially for the poor which was supposed to be his thing.

My thing is I don't care if people want to gloss over it or not (I find it strange that most who are just finding out simply don't give a fuck, but what can you do) I just want them to know. Because I tried starting the conversation with a few people IRL (because this is fake life, right?) and they all looked at me like I had two heads. They had no clue what I was talking about
