As had been speculated, Neil Patrick Harris will host CBS’ broadcast of the Emmys on Sept. 22.

Harris’ latest hosting commitment will follow his recently announced Tony hosting duties in June.

“Neil is the quintessential host – engaging, entertaining and a true showman – with a passion for celebrating the medium we all love,†said CBS Entertainment prexy Nina Tassler.

Harris hosted the Emmys the last time they were broadcast on CBS, in 2009.

“Four years ago, Neil was an amazing Emmy host and we are excited to have him back,†said Television Academy chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum. “Neil is an extremely gifted and inventive performer, and we look forward to seeing what he has in store this year.â€

Ken Ehrlich is exec producing the kudos for CBS.

“Neil is one of the most versatile artists currently working in television,†Ehrlich said. “It’s going to be great fun to utilize his acting, »

This is great news, he did such an awesome job in 2009. Actually the only host I haven't enjoyed since 2009 was Jane Lynch in 2011. She's a funny lady, but I think the hosting job got to her nerves and she did horribly. Both Jimmy Fallon and Kimmel silence their critics in 2010 and 2012 and did a great job. A lot of people give the two Jimmys shit, myself included, but they are actually both so hard-working and pretty damn funny.

NPH is a natural host and an amazingly entertaining human being. I don't care about the Emmys really but this is still cool, there will probably be some memorable things to see on Youtube or something.
