Magic and Suns must suck. They lost to a team that lost to the Wizards, Sixers, and Nets. Suns did 3 times.

Goodbye Sasha. He was traded.

The New Jersey Nets, Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets have agreed in principle on a three-way trade that will send Terrence Williams(notes) to Houston, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic(notes) and a 2012 first-round pick from Houston will go to New Jersey. Nets forward Joe Smith(notes) will join the Lakers, who also will send their 2011 first-round pick to New Jersey.

The deal can’t be finalized until Wednesday, the first day Smith and other free agents who signed in the summer can be traded.

Yahoo sports

Always nice to have more big man depth. I guess it isn't meant for the Machine and Ego Ears to be separated, lol.

The 1st rounder's gonna be in the high 20's, it isn't worth much, and overall it's a good deal for a team that wanted frontcourt depth. Sasha's a piece of shit, so it's good for them that he's gone.

Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

LA would have to pay the first rounder next year. They don't have to now and can spend the cash on Barnes and Brown,

They did the same thing when Odom was a free agent

Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

Trading a 1st rounder and Vujacic for a 35 year old bench-warming PF on a one-year contract isn't a good deal. He's earning a rookie's salary anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

Sasha gets paid over 5mil which is doubled with the tax to not play. LA has used Artest, Walton, Barnes, Ebanks, and even Kobe at PF for spot minutes this year while Odom and Caracter play C without Bynum and still not played Sasha.

A rookie in the first round makes a guaranteed 1 mil+ which can be allocated to Brown or Barnes. It isn't rocket science as they sold their first rounder to the knicks the season before last which was Toney Douglas for 3mil. Then they used it to keep Odom. Plus they already have their rookie projects in Caracter and Ebanks who both cost less than a 1st round rookie combined.

Guess what? Sasha's contract expires after this season, so he'll be off the books, so $1 million isn't shit!

Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

You pay the luxury tax at the end of the year so why pay essentially 9mil for him to not play?

Smith is on a vet min contract which means the league pays half. And why invest in a late first rounder that stays on your books when you got 2 rooks that make less combined?
