I've been really looking forward to seeing your first show and commend you on writing a fully detailed show straight off the bat.
Interesting that you've gone down the route of appointing a commissioner, but the term feels very suited to the nostalgia feel that NWA has prided itself on. I do wonder if this is something you plan on continuing as part of the long-term vision. Having seen Raven in TNA in recent weeks, I do wonder if his character still has that pizazz it once had and how this could translate into an authority role, but I think you've made a good call pointing the spotlight away from Billy Corgan, who I feel think he's the biggest draw in the company. I'd rather see 'WPC' to elevate the importance of an angle.
I forgot most of your commentators were fired, so also nice way to make use of Raven on what would otherwise be a very authority figure-lite show. Just one thing though, isn't it Kyle Davis?
My predictions were way off, but interesting to see the Mid-America title change hands. As I said before, it would be nice to see some distinction between some of the belts. At the moment, I don't think I've ever seen Jeremiah Plunkett as champion because it was brought back during the dark tenure of the CW app. I think this belt particularly needs work, so a change of champion indicates that there's plans ahead, especially with little touches like Lev debuting a new finisher move. I hope you continue to build upon his character.
Several newly signed talents? I look forward to hearing more about them. Brandi Lauren and Amber Nova feel a bit thrown together and may have benefitted from a proper introduction on a future Power. However, the women's tag team division needs depth, and individually they're also known names and good signings for the company.
Am I right in saying the US Tag titles also carry the Lucky 7 rule? I think the Country Gentlemen winning makes sense for the reasons I mentioned in the predictions. They have a personality, and I think they could benefit a scarce tag division. As much as you want to keep the numbers you have in the division, I will say that Legursky feels like an albatross around the neck of Jay Bradley.
I premium event's are typically match heavy, but I do feel like some video packages or some ringside interviews would help break up the stack card and also show off some of the characters you've got on the roster. Some of these matches were booked without storyline, so even an interview to try and tease title changes could have been beneficial.
Mims looked good in victory here. As much as I'm not a fan of Mim's current presentation, I think he has potential. Idol might need a bit more time to bake, but I think he's definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Nice promo from EC3, you're a few matches in so promoting the main event keeps the momentum going. I don't know if I'm meant to support him though, he feels pretty entitled.
Big Mama retaining shouldn't have been a surprise, but it was. Much like with Mims and Lev, I'm hoping that this means you intend to use them as ones to watch. Kylie obviously benefits from the family name, and I do like the storyline possibilities of Kylie holding the title would pose, but similarly to Idol I think there's plenty of time for that.
I did wonder whether you'd incorporate Ella Envy's exit into this project, but I'm glad you haven't, I think she's a good character. Given the new team of Nova and Lauren, I think having an established heel team like The IT Girls only adds heat to the feud.
Kyle Rae is a fantastic hire, I think between NWA and TNA, her career was ascending. I know that there were personal issues that held her back, but I think she's a great babyface that could lead the division.
I like that the Southern Six have been built as a formidable faction between Mason's climb to number one contender status and Alex Taylor's position as champion. I do think Colby Corino is a jewel in the NWA crown, but he hasn't lost clean so I hope he's able to go on and prosper. When NWA focus on their Junior Heavyweights they often do a really good job, so hope to see this spotlighted moving forward.
Again, nice VT segment and I always enjoy two opposing video packages to help build a main event. As mentioned before, Mason's been an asset to NWA, so it's nice to see him build up to the main event.
Very heel heavy tonight with the victories, not a criticism, because I think you do have some good babyfaces on the roster and clearly it looks like there's more to come. CBD needed this win in order to keep his shock value going, but also to spare Max's loss being wasted on a flash in the pan. I don't know if I see CBD defending the full seven times, but not every champion needs to.
I know Knox and Murdoch might not be popular with everyone but I get their relevance within the company. I wonder whether that approach will change at all, similar to the focus on nostalgia. While you could argue that Eddie and Orlando aren't exactly up and comers, I do think that they're a fresh team that still feel legitimate. I would say that their run IRL so far feels a little lukewarm from a character perspective, so that's something I'd like to see develop with this new reign. I'm wondering whether the miscommunication finish is just a way to have the champions lose or whether a split is pending.
Good promo by Tiffany Nieves to build onto the next episode of Power. Also foreshadowing a potential challenger for the NWA Women's title. La Princesa seems to have good standing within the company and feels like another worker who is putting the time in, and I feel like NWA is a great space to really spotlight that.
The women's title match came across intense. I know that Haley J had won the contender's match, but I do feel like more heat was needed on the feud to lead me to believe she had a chance of taking the title. Much like my previous comment, Kenzie is going down the Kamille route of running out of challengers. I know Tiffany is on the horizon, but I do think Kenzie should go out on a high rather than run the risk of petering out.
Chaos indeed in the main event. Thankfully it's one masked man who is against Latimer and not the whole of Exodus Pro/Control Your Narrative 2.0. I thought Mason looked good in the match and the Southern Six continue to run interference. However, Latimer needed to win this to make EC3's loss mean something. A lot of moving parts in the end with EC3 making sure his presence is felt, but I really enjoyed the reveal. I think Grayson is someone who has worked elsewhere before but doesn't feel like they're wrestling past their best, maybe it's because he never had his moment in AEW but there's something about his debut that feels like he's getting his moment and I think having people like that go for the ten pounds of gold only adds to its prestige. Great end to the show to hook you in for the next episode.
Overall, a promising start. This was a bigger show, so there was lots to get in, so I don't blame you for not having loads of promos and segments. I'm looking forward to seeing what a regular/non-special show looks like and also can't wait to see what other changes take place as part of the company's step forward.
