bloodyelbow.com - UFC lightweight star, Nate Diaz wants to accept Matt Brown's challenge to fight older brother Nick.

A funny thing happens when you remove a legitimate competitor from the rankings; they immediately start weighing their options and looking for the fight that can get the wheels of progress turning in a forward direction. That's exactly what's happened with UFC lightweight star, Nate Diaz.

Hot on the heels of a spectacular victory over Erick Silva last weekend, Matt Brown voiced a desire to meet up with elder brother, Nick Diaz in the Octagon. Not missing a beat, the younger Diaz stepped forward to accept the challenge via MMA Fighting. Here's what Nate had to say about stepping up a weight class to fight Brown:

Nate Diaz said:
I want the Matt Brown fight; that's what I'm looking for. I'm trying to fight the baddest motherfuckers out there. I'm not trying to fight some lame ass fighter that they're trying to build off of me. My brother is retired. So if this guy wants to fight a Diaz, he's got to fight me.

Diaz has been very vocal about his dissatisfaction with his current contract, so this may be his idea of a way to expedite a renegotiation of it with Zuffa brass. At the time of this writing, there has been no response to the challenge from Matt Brown's camp. We'll keep our readers up to date as more information comes in.

Geez, Matt Brown's getting quite popular now a days doesn't it seem? Lol, but Nate's not even a top 15 lightweight anymore let alone stepping up to the Welterweight division, he's got some ladder climbing to do as well if he wants this fight.

There's a lot of people seem to be wanting this fight, but I don't get it. Brown would run through Nate. The fight with Nick I get because he has more to offer Brown than Nate, but Brown vs. Nate is kind of a waste.

How does Nick have more to offer than Nate? Stylistically they're pretty much the exact same fighter.

Nick is a big 170, Nate is a 155er. Nick is much more experienced and outside of GSP who has been able to dominate Nick in the way Matt Brown would be looking to do? Nate on the other hand got throw around like a rag doll against Benson and then got taken out by Thomson and that was at 155, both times he fought at 170 in the UFC he was dominated.

Keep in mind though that Nick is retired. And the only reason Nate went 2-2 was because apart from the Thompson fight, all Benson, Rory, and DHK did was just take him down and tried to hump him. And Thompson was too tricky of a striker for him to fight. His fight against Marcus Davis was arguably one of his best performances of his career and that was at 170.

Matt Brown would be looking to make a brawl with him. It could be an entertaining fight but like I said, Little brother Nate has some ranking climbing to do whether it be at 155 or 170.
