I'm still very happy about this, like I've had drivers I like, and I'm a fan of win the Championship before, but the one that I call my favorite, the one who if I had to list drivers I like, the one who's at the very top of that list, had never won it before.
For awhile it was Jeff Burton, that was my favorite from the time I was a kid, up until the mid 2000s or so, maybe around 2006-2007 area. Then Dale Jr became my favorite up until he was gone, and now it's Chase. It was always awesome to see those others win, it was cool to see them get those W's, but I always was like "Damn man, I want to see my guy win the title, my guy be THE GUY." and it just never happened. Sunday it finally happened. Now as much as I hate the "playoffs" because I'm truly not a fan of it as you all saw me point out in the NASCAR 2020 Thread. I'm still not a fan of it. But what makes me feel good at least, is that under every single "Chase" format, dating back to when it started in 2004, Chase Elliott still wins it. The last 10 races, he's been the best. The only format he doesn't win under is the full 36 race season points battle. So I hope soon he can have a season like that where he's the best all season, and can win a Championship that way as well. But overall, I looked and he was the 3rd best driver all year as well. So, I'm happy. I rather he win it as the best all year, but at least he was the best of the best over the last 10 races.
