Whilst this is true technically it's the Premier League which is at fault for not enforcing the idiotic rule, if you want consistency video replays are required as people are too inconsistent.

Exactly, see my post above basically, either the rule should be enforced all the time or never as otherwise players won't know which games they can and can't do certain things.

So how is Keane an idiot with this point? He is a colossal fool IMO but this one is a poor example of it.

That's my point though, you can't pick and choose games to enforce rules fully. If one referee does it then all have to, otherwise the rules will be changing every game.

Do you watch every game that referee referee's? No, you don't. How do you know he doesn't enforce the rules fully every game? Just because the FA referee's don't, it doesn't mean foreign one's don't. FA referee's are to frightened of upsetting the fans/big clubs.

Did you read a word I said? I said if this ref does it then all have to, not saying he is wrong in doing so but if one ref does it then all should have to, and clearly, the FA ones do not.

I never said he was a fool because of that, that is the last stupid thing I can remember him doing as imo if was just a foul, never mind a red, despite what the rules say. And I'm not saying that all refs should enforce it, but if one ref does then all should have to, my preference would be none of them do as the game would be more fair.

Yeah I know. I'm saying, other referee's do, just the FA ref's don't because they're pathetic and frightened of upsetting the fans.

Just some have the balls to do it.

Do you think it was a red then? Not saying anything just wondering.
Because imo it wasn't, but if one ref thinks it is a definite red because it's in the rule book then all refs will have to play by the same rules to make the game fair, but I think the rules should be changed so that no referees can send him off because of the rule book, it isn't a good rule imo.

:obama: It wasn't a red, I think everyone with an understanding of football agrees with that. The rule book really needs updating and simplifying to remove these kind of incidents, too much is down to interpreation.

It should be his foots high -----> is he aware an opponent is near? If so red, if not then tell him to be wary of bringing it up that high in the future and send him on his way. If it takes 10/20 seconds to review video evidence then do it.

Exactly, I understand where Keane is coming from saying it should have been as it's in the rule book, but like you say, that same rule is a stupid one and really needs updating.

That is what it should have been changed to ages ago, Nani shouldn't have had his foot anywhere near that high, but he had no idea that an opposition was anywhere near and thought he was simply controlling the ball, so in that case it shouldn't be such a punishment.

Fifa are stupid to not have put in any kind of technology in football, it's so outdated now, look how long it takes in tennis to review a decision, it wouldn't slow the game down at all.

By the letter of the law it was a red. Should common sense have been used? Yes. Should he have been sent off? No.

It's not even a red in the rule book either. By that logic, any goal keeper who raises his leg to kick the ball out needs to be sent off. Why? Because his foot is slightly raised during the follow-through and someone could run into the studs. The red wasn't a red, but that's not why Roy is a blueberry.
