Its good to pay tribute to Big Dave

Seriously... Those kind of tumors (benign tumor) can be caused due to a previous injury. You know when a bone fracture happens, osteoblasts (cell formation) become active and there is a possibility of having extra cell formation. Causing calcification of excess rate that may lead to tumor cell formation (in energy and function).

Dont worry about it Knicky, but I erg you to always do the checkups every 6 months. There is a chance of getting a reminant tissue spreading it again. (Always be assured that you do all the tests every 6 months) thats my advice to you Knicky.
Wish you a healthy life dude.

^^^Weird you mention 'calcification', when I read that the first thing that popped into my head was my calcium build up I had in 2004. I can see how, in my noobish eyes, that could be a possible reason for the tumour. I was told I had a bump in 2000ish, which APPARENTLY caused a calcium build up to grow off the outside of my left thigh, down near my knee.

However, the silly thing is, nobody (my mum's done some readings, and my doctor has been in contact with national and international doctors/specialists on PVNS etc) seems to know what causes PVNS or Lipoma Arboresence. So it's very possible what you mentioned WS could have been the cause, but nobody's certain. Sucks, really.

And Evil Austin, that operation was my ... fourth. My first major surgery really, though.

As a nuclear medicine specialist, we deal alot for oncology related patients. We have some experience about this thing. Im glad that it helps.

Btw, I havent read any of your diagnosis and history but to what I understand and from the pics you posted. It looks like what I thought of.

biopsy and blood tests would tell and you can also use gamma counters (well-counter probes) to detect how much counts we get. The higher the count rate; the higher the posibility its a lipoma case for you. Just saying.

^^^Ok I'm not gunna lie, lol. I have no idea what you just said, lol.

For sake of argument/conversation, this is a pic of where the last incision was made on my leg, for my calcium build up removal on my thigh in 2004. Just to give some perspective as to how close it actually was to the joint...

Again, I'm no expert on what caused this, and from what I've been told (all apart from WS) I'm lead to believe there is no known reason for it's growth, or a cure.

Saying that - I'm not overly concerned as THIS histology report came back saying Rhumatoid Arthritis. I'm told there's medication for that, if it causes problems etc, so I'm not overly worried at the moment.

To thicken the plot of this story, after my operation (in which I saw a different doctor to whom I'm seeing now) in Jan 08, I was tossed off to a rhumatologist. Upon seeing him, I gave blood, did a few other tests, took countless medication and even gave fluid from my knee, in hopes to see if it was ANY kind of arthritis. NOTHING CAME BACK FROM ANY OF THOSE RESULTS! What a twist, eh. After pretty much spending a few months, and several painful visits to a specialist in arthritis, I was convinced I didn't have it. After my operation, that's all they're telling me I had, lol.
