Ah, the glory days. Ever since Mclaren left we've just made bad decision after bad decision, although tbf I thought Mogga was the right appointment at the time, and Karanka looks to be a great appointment so far, unbeaten in 6 won 5 out of 6 and have 5 clean sheets out of 6.

And let me say when Wednesday beat Leeds 6-0 a couple of weeks back I think I shed a few tears of joy, always a special moment when the scum get a good hiding. Are Wednesday hitting a bit of form now? They seem to have been good recently, not a team I'd be confident in Boro beating at least.

Kind of out of 11 games we've won 5 and drawn 4 since Gray took over which is pretty awesome compared to where we were out. Yeah beating Leeds is always wonderful, especially when their fans were talking up their chances before saying they were the best team in Yorkshire ( :pity: )

In the current championship though that's pretty good, the entire league is so tight atm anyone could end up anywhere, win a few games and you end up right outside the PO's.

I'm loving Leeds' dip in form recently, especially after Mccormack was going on about Boro not being good enough for him to come here at the start of the season, we're above them now the twat haha. Still don't think we've got a chance of reaching the PO's unless we bring in a striker but progress is progress and I'm happy with the improvements Karanka has made so far, namely, sorting out the defence. Sounds like Gray is starting to do the same.

He's been brilliant. Did you see his save at the weekend? Even if he is getting past his best now the experience he brings to the team, especially young lads like Ben Gibson is extraordinary. Steele is class don't get me wrong but having Given in the Championship isn't something you can turn down imo.

Look at it this way though, I'd drink a pint of shit to have Boro 7th in the Premiership.

Edit- Not a pun, I'm deadly serious.

Exactly. I hear United fans talking about these 'tough times'. For any other fans, getting relegated is bad ffs.

Haha, I know. I get where they are coming from but Boro winning the Carling Cup is something I'll remember for the rest of my life whilst not winning at least one cup is considered a bad season for them. I'd love to have United's success at Boro but ultimately I don't think I would swap the roller coaster ride that is supporting a mediocre club for the world.

Ben Gibson- shit, we had him on loan a couple of years ago. Class defender, won the double with him May 2012. Tried to get him permanent but shegged it.

He's really come through this season, he's Steve Gibson's nephew as well so wouldn't be surprised to see him get the armband after Woodgate has retired, that's probably the reason you couldn't get him on a permanent also.

Anyway back on topic, I'm half expecting Crayo to have been writing an essay this entire time on the game. Man U need to spend spend spend if they want any chance of anything imo, their squad is a mixture of too old, doesn't want to be there or not good enough now.

No point. Nothing has changed since my previous rant. The one positive that is coming out of all of this is that everyone at United who has any sort of power realises we need to improve the squad, and David Moyes doesn't seem to want shitty players (Fellaini aside). Mata coming to the club is going to be an incredible asset, and I think Reus, Gundogan, Shaw, Coentrao, Pogba, Dante, and Vidal are REALISTIC targets of world class quality/potential. I'm not saying sign all of them, but we still need a left back, a centre midfielder (I'd buy two), a centre back, and a winger like Reus. I will say one thing though, for those who don't think full-backs are that important positions, just watch how fucking poor Evra is. He is one of the main reasons we are where we are.

Let's face it, this season is over in terms of trophies. The biggest trophy we can get now is top 4 so we can continue to use the spending power we have in the summer with the Champions League under our belt. We can then easily attract Reus, Pogba, Shaw, and Vidal who I see as signings who won't leave until the summer. I think Coentrao, Dante, and Gundogan are very realistic transfers for this month and I'm hoping Moyes isn't resting on his laurels because we have apparently got Mata. Coentrao doesn't play first team football at Real Madrid, Dante has been left out recently and he needs football to assure a world cup place with Brazil in their home nation world cup (once in a lifetime), and Gundogan hasn't featured all season due to a back injury and only has 18 months left on his contract. If they're available, do what you have with Mata and break your bank getting them.

I'd also use this "transitional period" to trust your youth. Januzaj is our best player and he's 18 years old for fuck sake; he is living proof that you can trust your young players. All I hear about is how Jones is a future England captain and one of the best United talents we've ever had... Well stop playing him in fucking midfield and put him in his preferred role. Rio needs to go at the end of the season, Vidic should stay but only as a substitute, so mould Jones into a first choice centre back with Johnny Evans and Chris Smalling (hopefully Dante too). I also hope Moyes continues to have faith in Januzaj and Kagawa when Mata arrives, because Mata is going to need quality around with him, he can't do it on his own.

Very realistic future Man Utd team that I think can challenge on all fronts:

De Gea
Rafael - Jones - Smalling - Coentrao
Carrick - Gundogan
Mata - Rooney - Januzaj/Kagawa
Robin Van Persie
If we were to nail down those signings, I think we would then need to boost the squad. If Rooney is going to go then prepare to break the bank for the rumoured Cavani transfer. The biggest area is still the midfield though, so I'm really hoping the rumours of Pogba, Vidal, or Koke have real substance, because I've seen all of them play a lot and they're fucking fantastic. The future of United isn't bleak at all if we make top 4, but it's scary if we don't, and that's why I'm hoping we can bring someone along with Mata this window.
