Harper definitely asked and was told to wait. LHP too. I agree that I don’t think it’s something that needs to be brought to social media. It always feel like trying to get sympathy and peer pressuring the company into the release.

@Deezy is right though, if you’re really that dead set on leaving, just pull a Toni Storm. Or are they weary of leaving that check on the table

Genuine question, I know Toni supposedly quit but she still needed to be released / have it approved right? So how is it technically any different to Ali?

Yeah I would guess so.

Punk was gone for 6 months before they officially fired him. So Ali can take his ball and go home(or stay home technically) but I guess he wouldn’t actually be free just yet.

some people actually want to work for their living. Imagine that. Yeah Ali could sit on his ass and get paid but he doesn’t want that.

Let me add on to what I have to do since I do work for my boss in the medical field and nursing home. You have to talk privately about wanting to get released or no longer want to work there. It's about being professional. Doing it over social media is never a smart business move. It could hurt your career as a whole. If he went to do it privately and got told no, then oh well. If he didn't do that private stuff then he is cooked.

At this point i don’t think the wrestlers need to be professional with the way the company treats them.

And wrestling is a business where you can over outside the company

Yeah for what it's worth I think comparing an athlete/celebrity/public figure/whatever you wanna call it to the average Joe working a 9-5 is pretty nonsensical. To think the two would conduct themselves in the same manner is just not realistic.

Which is to say that sure, if I quit my job and publicized my issues with the company I work for on social media, that most likely would affect my future job prospects. In the entertainment industry and especially in wrestling, there are always people willing to take a flyer on you based on your relevance and what you can do business-wise.

Besides that though, Ali seems like the kinda guy who woulda tried to negotiate a release in private beforehand. But even if not, it's not like his post was slanderous or some shit.

And basically everyone in wrestling already has the idea that WWE is run by assholes so I'd hardly see any other company holding it against him. :lol

Yeah in the wrestling business it honestly works the opposite way. You can get more job prospects by being an asshole because it creates interest lmao. If you think a company wouldn’t hire Ali for announcing he requested his release you’re fuckin nuts.
