I'm pretty sure his faith was brought up a few times, even if not it would have gotten incredibly stale quickly. He had no depth.

I remember him lifting his arms in the air and saying "Praise Allah", or some nonsense.

you can't call it nonsense, it may has been kayfabe but its still disrespectful to all the Muslims for you to say it.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

I'm not going to even comment on how Hassan's storyline because I feel as I might have the unpopular opinion. I think Daivari got a bad end of that deal as well. He's also a great talent from what I see now, but he didn't even get wrestle and if he did it must have been a jobber match because I don't remember it.

Basically what the WWE did with his character was borderline disgusting. He summoned 5 masked men in camo pants and choked out the Undertaker. I don't know if you remember all of the beheadings that happened but it was along those lines. UPN actually demanded him off of their network because of heat. He was released shortly after. The WWE has used the Anti-American gimmick before but this clearly ruined his career.

It was just bad timing if they had either pulled the incident when the London bombings happened for a short while they would have been fine imo.

He should come back now. The heat has died off somewhat since then.

Oi, don't be so disrespectful. Don't be disrespectful to my and other people religions and expect it to be fine. If you look into Islam it's about peace and love, clearly you do not know that. Before making stupid comments learn to respect one's religion and beliefs.

Someone being upset over a quick comment I made in passing. Religion shouldn't be anymore off limits than anything else. In fact, maybe I find it 'offensive' that I can't call something ridiculous or nonsense without someone being too sensitive about it. I guess if it had been Mormonism or Scientology (especially the latter), no one would have a problem with it.

To you, it shouldn't.
To me, it should.

You don't get to decide if its off limits or not, if you don't follow a religion then that's okay, but you should respect that other people follow them..

Mocking a religion or a religious quote is not a respectful thing to do, and I don't care if you consider it off limit or not because I do.

It's Hassan's storyline while he was there, it was subliminal, but I felt there was more to it. Now I'm not muslim or arab or anything of the sort, but I felt that WWE was playing on that, despite the fact of Cena saying that whole we hate you because you're "asshole american". Now that could be played in itself, but then I think in his final feud with the company, which was with Taker, he had some guys with strikingly similar attire to middle eastern terrorist run out and attack people. I felt that WWE was playing at the terrorism thing despite what the heels said. America wanted to see terrorist get f'd up at the time, so WWE gave em an arab and turned him into a TV terrorist, so to speak.

I just think it was f'd up for WWE to play on that. It would be the equivalent to creating a character who resembled the man who did the Newtown shooting.

In my opinion I think the original purpose of Hassan's character was to showcase how America treated muslims overall after the 911 bombings. Where they prejudiced everyone of Arab and Islamic decent instead of focusing their anger at the terrorists responsible. That was Hassan's initial gripe, that he and the rest of the people he represented as a whole were being used as a scapegoat by an angry nation for the actions of a vocal minority. The gimmick and story then escalated out of control, partially due to creative not knowing when to quit but also because of the crowd reactions pushing it towards it. The crowds turned Hassan from a character with a gripe about being painted as a terrorist due to his portrayed race and religion into the very thing they painted him as. He was as a character forced to become the very thing he stood against in protest. If you tell a person he is bad enough times he is going to become it. It then spiraled even more out of control due to the bad timing of the Undertaker attack and the London bombings.

That is my take on Hassan's character. WWE had good intentions with Hassan from the start I think, but the crowds reactions kind off hijacked it.
