Punk had some really fire gear during his title reign

I woulda been too, Chris. But, most of these fans see Cena as public enemy #1, so I think they woulda taken that worse.

Speaking as a rep of that base, Cena losing was the most important part. Punk can win back the tile from ADR later. At least our hero defeated Cena first.

But in my mind if Punk didn't win the belt tonight I thought he was really leaving and WWE just milked his final storyline for something bc the sheets were reporting that he was unhappy and his contract was expiring months before this angle happened

So he wouldn't have been able to win it back from Del Rio

I didn't know what to think

And I think winning and then getting cashed in on would be more of a slap in the face if he was really leaving than if he just lost

But I didn't really expect Punk to leave

Between that and fans cheering Orton in 2007 over him and the reaction at ONS I still don’t know why Cena didn’t get a quick heel turn in 2006, but that’s a discussion for another day.

But if he had resigned then yes I agree Del Rio cashing in wouldnt' have been worse than Cena winning

Another point where they fucked this up was not keeping Punk gone long enough.
