Aight... just curious... thoughts on Bobby Lashley and his pursuit of MMA.

cause I'll say at first I thought it was just a bad joke. Follow behind Brock and all that. But 10 fights in and although he hasn't really fought anybody with even a semi name... he is still sticking to it and looking to fight even longer. So you think he'll be anything or just ... a flash in the pan?

I seriously can't fathom any situation where he amounts to anything special. He's near on 40, so his best years are behind him, he picked it up late and he's beaten nobody of note thus far. He doesn't have the ability.

If he's still as muscular as he was the last time I saw him then he has no chance, he needs to drop some of the mass because his cardio is awful.

Last fight of his I saw was the Chad Griggs one, so not really got much optimism to run on here. Luckily enough, none of the 3 major companies have a deep HW division, so he could always be an option as he has a name.

Yeah he still has all that mass to him. He probably has gotten just a little smaller but not small enough that it'll help him out. But he was born in 76 so he isn't too old.

I think for me the main surprise is that he is still actually pursuing it. I don't see him experiencing that much success like Brock did but I think if he actually decides to sign with a bigger promotion he'll be decent. Not really a gatekeeper cause I don't think he is even that good. But he'll be like an attraction.

WSOF could do the Lashley/Batista thing that Strikeforce were gonna do, I guess.

It'd be a freak show but what else are they gonna put on TV, Jon Fitch aint draw of the year now is he.

Bobby Lashley's muscle frame keeps him from being more than a Dan Severn type of fighter, dirt league show maineventer. Too much muscle mass drains energy when the muscles are exerted. TChad Griggs would still kill him.

This. I thought that he would have given up by now and called up Vince and asked for his job back. He knows that he can make good money in wrestling if he ever wanted to return full time but for whatever reason he is sticking with MMA and hoping that he can make it. Is Lashley still signed to WSOF? That deal was announced last year but I don't recall him ever fighting for them.

Yeah he is signed to them but hasn't had a single fight yet for them.

But I just don't think he'll be able to amount to much unless he steps his competition up big time to really figure out where he stands. Because fighting the little guys... yeah you rack up wins but you don't get anywhere with that.

Bit strange that he has been signed yet hasn't fought for them yet. He should set himself a time frame, say two years, focus purely on MMA and actually take big fights to see how good he can be. Then if he doesn't amount to anything just go back to wrestling and save for his retirement there.
