MLW Reload - January 20, 2024

Chris

Dreams are Endless

MLW presents RELOAD, a free signature event this Saturday on beIN SPORTS on cable (find a provider) and streaming worldwide on MLW’s YouTube channel.

  • Satoshi Kojima vs. Sami Callihan
  • Matt Riddle & Alex Kane vs. World Titan Federation Superstars® “Filthy” Tom Lawlor and Josh Bishop (promoted by Saint Laurent)
  • Delmi Exo vs. Tiara James
  • Nao Kakuta vs. Moka Miyamoto
  • Ichiban vs. Jimmy Lloyd
  • Zayda (promoted by Saint Laurent) vs. Notorious Mimi
After being disrespected at Kings of Colosseum, Satoshi Kojima is zoned in on his quest to become the first ever two time World Heavyweight Champion at SuperFight on TrillerTV+, but standing in the way to his date with destiny is The Calling’s “Death Machine” Sami Callihan.

Can Kojima’s incredible fighting spirit power through Callihan’s dangerous, lawless brawling or will Sami maim Kojima to the point that he is unable to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship in two weeks time?

Two of the most well rounded grapplers in MLW history join forces for the first time ever as World Heavyweight Champion Alex Kane teams with “The King of Bros” Matt Riddle to throw down with Saint Laurent’s World Titan Federation! Can “Filthy” Tom Lawlor captain his team to a big win and ice Riddle’s momentum? Will Kane be on the same page as Riddle? Tune in to find out.

Plus, Saint Laurent presents a special Sessions by Saint Laurent with “the ultimate opportunity” for his guest, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion Alex Kane.

Former Featherweight champion Delmi Exo rumbles with top ranked Tiara James. Several league sources are claiming World Featherweight champ Janai Kai, Salina de la Renta and her Promociones Dorado associates are keeping close tabs on the bout, but could certain ghosts from Salina’s past be keeping a watchful eye as well?

In one of the more fascinating matches signed for RELOAD is the high velocity fighting style of Ichiban and the wild card that is Jimmy Lloyd. Can Lloyd’s high threshold for pain and blend of carnage help him clinch victory? Is Ichiban focused on this fight or Salina de la Renta’s Promociones Dorado?

World Titan Federation Federette™ Zayda looks to continue her ascent up the featherweight rankings as she goes one on one with The Notorious Mimi.

It’s a Joshi January as two TJPW rivals clash in their MLW debut when Nao Kakuta goes one on one with Moka Miyamoto. With a background in karate, Miyamoto, a traditionalist, strives to continue building her arsenal, gaining experience and winning the respect of fans. With heart and determination, Miyamoto’s goal is simple: defeat the wicked “Rat Chaser” Kakuta. But can she do it?

I also wouldn’t put it past Kojima being the first two-time champion. Court really loved all Japan, and was his inspiration for starting in MLW.

This appears to be after Collision tomorrow. I’ll make a chat in case anyone wants to watch this. I probably will.

The more I think about it the more I think Kojima should defeat Kane at super fight. Because then he would have the distinction of not only being the first two-time MLW champion but you have to remember he’s also recognized as the first-ever MLW world champions. Who better?

I sort of agree with you, and with Kojima doing shows across Japan and other places would be good publicity.

True. Though some may have a problem with that.
I totally see that, but with the average reign being over 500 days, I think they can afford to do a few more switches. Especially now that they’re doing both a monthly ple and a monthly tv supercard.

I agree, and Kane losing to Kojima and then winning against him will help him in a way. And I am fine with short title switches, I just don't it to happen all the time.
