Miz/MVP

Last night's amazing Raw segment between Miz and MVP only proves that WWE has lost touch on the actual formula for professional wrestling that works. And that is building the feuds with tremendous promos and hopefully outstanding matches to come. I think this sheds more light on the actual seemingly lost sense of how to handle conflicts in this company. Instead of Randy Orton coming out every week and demanding a title match, MVP and Miz actually had something more important to talk about. I would have even been happy with Miz just ending his promo alone in the ring. It was a great way to show how he 'earned' respect or at least in his own mind. The character developement in the whole segment was just top notch.

I have no doubt in my mind that tons of talent on all WWE brands could come up with these promos if given the time. It's creative's fault that the talent isn't given enough opportunity to shine on the mic like Miz and MVP did. I've been liking the Miz more and more since he came back from the Cena burial in the summer. He has stepped up his game more than anybody and he has the most natural heat of anybody on the roster. Last night's crowd wasn't a measure to the heat he can really draw. We could be seeing the next mega star in the Miz. The only problem I have with him is the new finisher. I'm not a huge fan of the 'Skull Crushing Finale' but if one move is his biggest problem then he has an amazing up side. The new music was a must and he is really looking to be a prime contender for MITB winner and future World Champion by the end of 2010.

You can't blame it on MVP though. The guy has proved multiple times what he can do given the chance. They have the guy a 2 minute promo spot yesterday to prove himself and he did just that. Every time the ball is put in his court he fuckin runs with it. He was more than ready for a WWE title shot during his heel run on Smackdown but sadly horrible booking ruined that for him and nothing else. If this feud continues the way it started off last night there's no doubt in my mind we could be looking at two of the most over people in the company by its finish.

I totally agree with you, back during his heel run in 2007 he was imo the only real reason to watch Smackdown. I believe that would have been the perfect time to give him a run with the belt after Edge got hurt. I still am one of those dudes who thinks MVP has it in him to have a run or two with the strap, whenever given a shot at a promo on TV (which are getting more and more rare) he shows the WWE what they could have yet for whatever reason he isn't given a worthy shot. Since he came to Raw he had a few good starts to feuds as a face (Swagger, Orton, Miz) as well as a possibly heel turn (Kofi).

^^^Mid-2008 he should have been fueding with HHH over the WWE title on SD (rather than Khali & Kozlov).



Those of you that are shitting on MVP for trotting out the same old routine are way off the mark....

With regards to MVPs character... When's the last time you saw MVP be the one to actually bring up his past/background? ...Basically, he doesn't. Just like Swagger earlier this year, Miz was slinging the mud (so to speak) and MVP responded.

Secondly, correct me if I am wrong (I didn't see MVP debut) but from my watching him as a heel WM23 onwards, he wasn't promo's about being an ex-con and having a rough up-bringing.. He was a conceited, bling'd-up guy that was all about money & ego.

Miz/MVP on this weeks Raw was the best face-off i've seen in WWE in some time... Last time I can recall one that intense was when Orton & HHH were nose to nose prior to ONStand2008 (but most peeps on here were too busy moaning about repetition to appreciate it).

I hope for a return to "big things poppin' n' little things stoppin' ", for Mr. "Half-Man, Half-Amazing".

I mean wasn't Orton/MVP also supposed to happen and look at what happened?

...."Supposed" to happen??? We were 'promised' nothing that didn't transpire.

...A promo & a match between the two happened. It was a one night shot to introduce MVP to the Raw crowd on his first night on the show. There was no particular beef/fued to speak of so why would it make sense to break out the rematches and PPV shit?

I caught the promo on youtube, and needless to say it was great. One of the best promos in WWE as a whole in a long time. It's about time Miz is doing something with his title and damn sure about time MVP is doing something. What the hell happened MVP and Henry? Anyway, most storylines are better when they are based off real life. Miz talking about how nobody liked him, MVP defending his past, it's great.

Meh. I have to admit, MVP upped the ante a bit last nigh and the promo was gold but I still don't give a shit about him. I just want to know that if MVP never had a rough background, what would ALL of his promos be based on. .

Hey genius, it's called character. People bring up that he's an ex-con, he shouldn't be there, MVP defends it's his character but also what his real life background is.

Here's a question, what would Punk talk about if he wasn't straight edge? What would Cena talk about if it weren't for the "WWE Universe"? What would Miz's promo have been about if he was liked when he 1st came to the E? What would Jericho's promos be about if he weren't the honest man? What would The Rock talk about if he wasn't electrifying?

I think they should make MVP's rough upbringing his gimmick. I like it when they bring it up, it makes everything more interesting and fun to watch.

I have to say I loved this Promo on Raw as it started with my thoughts exactly on the Miz and I loved his mocking of JBL and then he proved that he dosen't run away last night.

I loved MVP on Smackdown and hoped he would be successful on Raw but hopefully this is just the start.
