Muhammad Hassan: I don't care that he was nixed due to a tragic incident in the UK. Taboo hasn't stopped WWE from performing necrophelia, incest angles, 80 year old women giving birth, human crucifixion ect. ect. The man had main eventer written all over him and his ship was outright bombed like it was a popular american business building.

Matt Hardy: I don't think so much as his heel run, as outright several YEARS ago with his feud with Edge. That feud could of been huge to put over BOTH of them as main event talents. Instead they used it as a catalyst to make Edge an even bigger heel at Matt's expense, and I believe this was the very first time they screwed up his overness.

Carlito: I mean....COME ON! The guy debuts and wins a title *who the hell can say that?*. He instantly enters into an intense and personal feud with JOHN CENA of all people. And what do they do? They fail to capitalize on it.....at all. I can't even REMEMBER what they did with Carlito until he went to RAW and once again got the title on his first night, and that push was screwed up too. Carlito could of been gold for the WWE.

Mark Henry: Whether you love him or hate him nobody can deny how ridiculously over he was when he came back to Smackdown as the huge monster heel fueding with Kurt Angle for the world heavyweight title. All the tools were there to make him an absolute monster for years to come. But after this feud and his subsequent burial at the hands of The Undertaker, he only was able to semi recover over on ECW. But still, I feel Henry is a far more effective menace than Big Show.

^Oooh. Muhammad Hassan. That's a good one I totally forgot about. That angle was edgy and controversial, and would have gotten over had they given him a chance. The guy was a great worker in the ring as well.

I wouldn't put him over Big Show, but when Edge was injured and they had the Battle Royal for the WHC it would have been SO much better for Henry to have one as opposed to Khali.

The Invasion-Wow was this a botched, ego fuck of a trainwreck or what?

RVD in 2001
Chris Jericho in 2000
Test immediately after the HHH/Steph wedding
Owen Hart right after the rest of the Hart clan left in 97

Rick Rude: What more is there to say? The guy worked so damn hard and they did nothing with him in the long run

Did nothing? ...The guy was a former IC champ from the days when that belt was HUGE and main evented for the WWF title vs Warrior a bunch of times.

I can't recall him ever getting a run against Hogan though, which indeed does suck.

Ted Dibiase: He should have gone to the Main Event circle, but I guess Hogan had other plans (or so it's rumored)

Never read anything about Hogan preventing DiBiase winning the belt... The commonly held belief is that Honky Tonk man (who was on a hand-shake only "no major jobs on TV" deal at the time) refused to drop the IC belt to Savage on SNME in '87 so they ended up putting the WWF title on him at WM4 (when the original plan was to put it on The Million Dollar Man).

Mr. Perfect: (see above)

Sadly his back injury put paid to that, otherwise, following his 'retirement' of Flair, I'm pretty sure we'd have seen him climb the ranks along with Bret & HBK.

Didn't like him anywhere near as much as a face tho'...

@ Enzo: Any thought what could have been done with Owen...

Thought about this before and I'll be honest, the idea of him fueding with Vince rather than Austin doesn't quite scream ratings to me. Always found Owen to be a bit of anomaly... His demeanour always came across a bit 'wet' & 'geeky' to me and because of this I've never been able to picture him a world champ (Especially not in THAT era).

Good call re: RVD at that time.... He was by far the best thing about the Invasion storyline, was having some of the best matches I've seen from him in WWE and should have been a breakout star off the back of that angle and in the mix for the undisputed title mini-tournament.

I blame Kane sobbing like a little girl when Lita ditched him.

This. They made can look like a pussy. How about taking three Tombstones in a row from Undertaker? No one kicked out of the Tombstone, and Kane did it TWICE. So much to put over with him there.

Now he gets taken down by Rey Mysterio and cries out every leg kick. Hasn't looked menacing in 8 years.

Matt Hardy after he turned heel. Or as he went to Smackdown.

Shelton Benjamin's first ECW run.

The Hart Dynasty and Cryme Tyme.

Natalya as she debuted.

Chavo Guerrero after he retired Rey Mysterio.

With Shelton's first ECW run, they had such potential to get over both Shelton AND Burke. But after Burke introduced him, after a couple of weeks, it was never mentioned or anything. I think they only tagged like once or twice.

I know it's not WWE's fault, but Marcus Cor Von could have been big. He had the look, the ability, if he didn't leave due to family reasons, he could have been big.

Hell, based on his performing his current gimmick in TNA, add Elijah Burke to the list.

And to go back to CM Punk, I don't think WWE has missed the ship on him at all. He's proven that he can get over as a face or a heel...especially as a heel. They've fucked up on him multiple times and every single time he manages to make fans care about him once again.
True this time around they dropped the ball on what could have been their next potential mega-star with some of the best heel momentum in years. But alas, I don't doubt when they do get back around to Punk..ya know..once Batista is injured again he'll have no problem settling back into his niche.

That sounds like the proverbial boat is already out at sea going round in circles to me.

Shelton Benjamin i mean ok, he is not gold on the mic. But he has had plenty of chances to go tot he top but it just does not happen for the guy. If he can learn from orton and keep his head striaght he could go far.

He will never go far or hit ME because no one gives two fucks about him. He just cant seem to get ppl behind him. He has had loads of pushes and just cant connect with ppl to make them give a toss about him. Well that mt opinion anyway.

As for me i think the missed opportunities are
Punk
Swagger
but they can still be chances for these 2, On the other hand though the ship is rapidly sailing away for MVP with each weeks that pass. they need to really go with a big push for him and ASAP
