Hard to tell how the crowd would have reacted since the entire reason they turned on the match was because they had built themselves up to see D Bry and then he didn't come. The presence of D Bry changes the entire complexion on how things could have gone down reaction-wise. They might have still been disappointed, but not as pissed off. Then again the crowd was never on Batista's side, as they boo'd even going back to Flair predicting him as the winner. Flair was 4/4 on his picks btw, what a beast.
Lol, Flair was a beast tonight, no doubt. I think having Rey at number 30 was ridiculous, tbh. Shoulda gone to D-Bry. I think it would've been better to not see Bryan in the rumble than to see him lose.

Ok. Read it. Like it. But that's not my point. I'm saying there would be a much worse reaction if it were DB and Dave in the same situation as Reigns and Dave. Not trying to change anything that happened in the match. No new theories. No heel turns. Nothing. Same original occurance.
Like he said, they would be mad for the right reasons.

I think the main problem here is WWE booked Batista to be the man as a face and he very clearly isn't going to be worth a damn as a face, and probably won't even be getting face reactions. Its funny to me and I look forward to seeing them trying to get out of this mess they've made for themselves.

Making the situation 1000 X funnier is they have the super over babyface in Bryan and a potential face superstar in Reigns but still try to force Batista into this role.

Mick's right, it really does feel like they hate the fans.

Honestly I can see why people were upset. Daniel Bryan is a hot product and they're not pushing him, what for in favour of Orton/Batista? Anyone with a brain cell could tell you that right now you want to Milk this "YES!" thing for all it's worth, I mean if he just didn't re-sign, they'd be losing out on alot of money from his sales.

I think it'll be worth it it Lesnar F-5s Orton off the titantron onto El Torito, then fucks Batista up until he has to go into the "Brodus Clay" type of main events.

I think its more about DB not showing up than Batista winning. Ultimately though he just sounds like the rest of the DB marks.

DB will come out on Raw tomorrow as over as ever, more over from having not appeared in the RR match if anything IMO. The same way his popularity spiked the most from WWe screwing him over at Mania against Sheamus, WWE 'screwing him' tonight with no RR match appearance will get even more fan support on DB's side.
You might be right, but it's meaningless. He doesn't need to be more over: hell, CAN HE GET MORE OVER?

He needs the payoff every single fan wants. It's not just those in the audience either, he was trending last night due to the absolute outrage at his lack of appearance. You're justification is wrong in my opinion, Bryan should have been in the match.

I agree with Foley. It was clear to me that the fans in the audience were not happy. Primarily I think Bryan should have been in the Rumble match. He's so over with the fans right now and deserves to have a title shot. Not only that, but Reigns looked amazing in the match last night and should have gone over Batista. It could have furthered Reigns' singles career and really pushed The Shield toward a breakup.

I figure there's no big surprise with Batista winning, and while it's all speculation and hypothetical situations, I tend to agree with D'z's theory that if Bryan had at least been IN the match then the fans wouldn't have been nearly so pissed. Even if he lost, at least he would have made an appearance and participated to pacify the fans. To me, they'd be more pissed about him NOT showing up while guys like Nash, JBL and Torito all took part in it than they would if he showed up and lost. I think the main point of their frustration and anger stems from DB not even getting a shot in the rumble. It was very obvious that the fans were not pleased at all, and it'll be interesting to see whether WWE publicly acknowledges that or if they try to gloss over it. Glad to see Foley speaking up and addressing the matter in his own way, and he made some good, valid points. Next stop: a photo of his smashed TV.
