Mick Foley Done With TNA?

All signs point to the announcement that Mick Foley had been "fired" on Impact Wrestling as his storyline exit from TNA. I am told that while Foley's deal with the company expires in September, internally, he was pretty much considered done and wouldn't be back.


It was pretty obvious based on Foley's Twitter comments (referring to TNA house shows as "Empty Arena Matches", among others) that he likely knew he was towards the end of that run.
While it was never spoken publicly, there was a sense of disenchantment and frustration from both sides about the relationship. TNA never really tapped into or promoted many of Foley's outside passion projects, while some within the company dismissed him as being hard to work with.

In hindsight maybe being yelled out by Vince on the headset wasn't that bad a job.

TNA never really got as much as they should have out of Foley. His work as GM/commisioner/share holder was overshadowed by the fact TNA always had at least three authority figures and so none of them stood out since their decisions were always overlooked by the others. Foley should have been used as a mouthpiece for a stable or as a manager for a wrestler or two. It would have been a more productive way to use him.

What did you think of Foley's run in TNA? Do you think he will go back to WWE?

Foley's run in TNA was alright. I actually didn't mind when he was champion.

As far as going back to WWE, I'd like to see it, just not as a full-time wrestler.

The guy writes a book about them and they don't even know how to promote it, while the competition gives him a free plug on their shows that are higher rated. And you expect Foley to be all cheery about it? LOLTNA they don't know how to promote anything. But it's ok, we'll just sway it to look like its somebody elses fault.

Foley has to take his fair share of the blame for his diaster run in TNA also, he finically no longer has to wrestle and is way past his prime, yet still wrestles, and to makes matter agrees to win the TNA world title. I think they should have made him a full time annoncer, that role would have been ideally for him.

Foley is no longer relevant, Which is why TNA should have never signed him. His body has been destroyed since say 2000. I can't believe he took another through the cell bump from Triple H. But i can see him being in the hall of fame soon, Maybe in 2013 because i don't think Vince will overshadow him with Savage. But you never know, As i see it Foley deserves to headline his induction group.

He is paid to do. He was booked to wrestle, so he wrestled. He was booked to win a title and he did.

You act like he has some sort of creative control over everything he did. There are performer contracts and there are staff contracts and he signed a performers contract.

Act like he is soooo different than Sting.

No, your right it is no different to Sting, but who said that I agree with Sting over shadowing younger talent, I don't. Foley let his ego run amock. I have no problem with Wrestlers getting well paid for their art, but when their day is up, and they are brought back into a company then they should be giving the rub to people need it more, out of pride Foley should have refused.

Where did it ever say that Foley was refusing to job to anyone? Where did it say that Foley wanted to become TNA champion or wanted to be the focus in major storylines? Tell me where it ever said that and I'll admit you were right, but until then. I'm more inclined to say that when the front ofice tells you to do something a true professional does it.

No I didn't say it was his idea, but surely anyone has the right to say, they don't want to do something because it is wrong for business, and fact is I am sure Foley is someone who would get away with that. I would still blame TNA more than him, but he still must share some of the blame.

Professionals do what they are told, not everyone can get away with it like a Jericho. Who constantly argues over everything he does. Foley is a professional who does what he is told. The man is a whore for money and will do whatever he has to to make it.

I found Foley kind of an oddball in TNA. He had a decent run, but at times he was a heel, a face, a tweener kinda got annoyed by it. I would rather Fokey be the mysterious Raw GM then the role he has now in TNA. Maybe even a tough enough trainer, but him going back to WWE maybe a long shot.

I could just imagine his reintroduction if he was the Raw GM.

Someone random would talk to him.

"Hey Mick. Where ya been?"

"Oh, just on Lockdown, planning my Great Escape, which would be the new name for my next book."

I agree that Foley shouldn't have been used as a wrestler as frequently as he was and he shouldn't have won any titles there. But I don't agree that it was Foley's fault, TNA should never have booked him that way. He should have been used as a special attraction wrestler once or twice a year and for the rest of the year he should have been used in the GM style role which he was very good at.

Excately, I did say I blame TNA more than him, but I don't think he should totally be free of the fault. Part of my reasoning is that I have a lot of time and respect for Foley, the guy always strikes me as down to earth, and someone who has a passion for the business, and wants to help it, and help get guys over, add to the fact that he is in his forties, and is basically set up for life, so fincially does not have to wrestle, then I think instead of going to the easy option, he should have explained to management, than he would just wrestle the odd match (a speacial attraction, or something of that irk), and should never had let it get so far, than he was ever in picture to win the world title.

So it has pretty much been confirmed that Foley is done with TNA. He has supposedly asked for his release, his contract expires in September, but has yet to be granted it.

What do you see Foley doing next?

Will he go back to WWE in a non-wrestling role like commentator or GM?
Will he write another book?
Will he go to ROH?
