Bay Drops Controversial Robots From Transformers Sequel

Director MICHAEL BAY has decided to drop two controversial characters from the third installment of the TRANSFORMERS franchise, following a storm of criticism over the robotic duo.

The robots, Mudflap and Skids, also known as The Twins, were featured in the second movie Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen but their inclusion was heavily criticised with some bloggers calling the characters "racist" stereotypes.

The accusations stem from the characters' use of exaggerated slang, while one of the robots sported a gold tooth and was illiterate.

Bay has now confirmed the offensive Autobots won't be returning for the follow-up, which has now gone into production in California.

In a post on his movie forum, Shoot For the Edit, Bay writes, "The Twins are not back in T3."

Bay previously defended his inclusion of the characters, insisting the robots were not meant to cause any offence.

He said, "I don't know if it's stereotypes - they are robots, by the way. These are the voice actors. This is kind of the direction they were taking the characters and we went with it."

Too bad it's not Megan fox and Shia, they were just as bad as the twin robots. but fuck were they ever annoying. I guess the 'controversy' is that the robots wrongly stereotype twins.

Hey, they ruined that movie for me and I can usually be happy watching a movie in the theaters, but when you couldn't decipher what you were seeing during the robot battles and your main focus on comedy is annoying twin robots followed up by an annoying nerdy mexican an overhaul is needed.

Maybe he's poking it with the racist stereotype considering all of the racial profiling talk in the news. Then again the story could be true and the characters could be pulled even though the renders were already completed.

I'd believe that over him trying to win the fans over by removing ridiculously cheesy characters that weren't even in the original tv series (plenty of cheesy robots in the original show to choose from, didn't need to create the twins or you could of actually created a half ass story and didn't need them for sudden protection and stupid one liners while traveling with Sam and co.)

Only to actually have them in the movie. With your main star discrediting his last two major films and Megan Fox's thumb and dirtiness ruining her image, Bay has to put up or shut up and revive this thing, do you really wanna hang your comedy with the robots again?

Yea I thought people might not believe it unless I posted the rim with the Autobot logo on it. Those twins were part of the problem of that sequel. They weren't needed, I can honestly say I don't know Transformers to well but I just hope they try not to introduce too many bots in the next movie.

He is full of shit. Voice actors DO NOT go their own direction with characters. They are doing what the script and director ask of them, they aren't improving & creating vastly different characters than what was on page or asked for in studio. To try and blame the voice actors is a complete cop out. He obviously heard them doing that in a take, liked it and asked them to play the roles as that.
