So I brought this a while ago because I wanted to get into the MGS series. Thing is, I have no idea what the story is about.

Can anyone catch me up on the story of MGS 1, and leave me with enough to detail to actually understand what's going on in MGS 2 and MGS 3. Does anybody know any good articles that explain the stories well individually?

Also, what are peoples thoughts on the MGS HD collection while we're at it.
