McGregor mocks Poirier, calls him a 'little hibilly kid', promises first round KO

Even after all the animosity between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier unfolded at the UFC 178 media day, that didn't stop Conor McGregor from doing what he seems to do best. And that's talk up a storm about his upcoming opponent Dustin "The Diamond" Poirier who he faces at the September event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

McGregor started off by attacking Poirier's backwood culture which stems from his home of Layafette Louisiana.

Don't get me wrong, I like the kid. He's a quiet little hillbilly. I have nothing against the guy. I'm sure he grew up in a circus or a fair, he's a nice little kid. His cousin's probably named Cletus or something

Although Poirier has won his last three in a row over the likes of Erik Koch, Diego Brandao, and Akira Corassani. "Notorious" is less than impressed with the performances he's displayed in his last few fights. Going so far as to say he does the "chicken dance" in his fights.

All you gotta do is look at his last couple of fights.

The last contest he had, he fought a TUF reject and nobody gives a s-- about him. His chin is deteriorating. Every single contest he gets into, he gets hit, and he gets to one knee. A gust of wind hits him, and he does the chicken dance. Against me, I'm going to crack him with a jab and he's going to wobble and I'm going to put him away. It's going to be a first-round KO, mark my words.

Poirier and McGregor meet on the main card of UFC 178 which takes place live September 25th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Tickets go on sale Friday.
