Matthew Rehwoldt (formerly known as Aiden English in WWE) is stepping away from the ring and will instead focus on his pro wrestling commentary career.

In a tweet posted on Friday night, Rehwoldt announced that he will no longer be taking bookings to wrestle. Rehwoldt wrote that he loves the broadcasting side of wrestling and will continue to do commentary but isn't sure he belongs in the ring anymore.

"So here you go: I will no longer be taking bookings to wrestle going forward. I've always been most at home with a mic in front of me and am in love with the broadcast side of the biz. I'm not sure I feel I belong in the ring anymore and this year has taught me that," Rehwoldt tweeted.

"But I love what I'm doing now and am still technically a free agent so if you have a company/promotion that needs an entertaining and experienced voice on the mic hit me up! All in addition to continuing to explore esports/gaming, VO [voice over], and content!"

Rehwoldt is a color commentator for Impact Wrestling and NJPW Strong. He had also wrestled for both promotions in his post-WWE career.

Rehwoldt was released by WWE in April 2020. While with the company, he was a one-time NXT Tag Team Champion as part of The Vaudevillains and also was aligned with Rusev on the main roster.

Smart of him to realize right now I'm not where I want to be as a Wrestler but Doors are opening up for Commentary take advantage of it.

Nothing wrong with this decision. He is an excellent color guy and theres a lot more longetivity for him in this position.

He’s great on commentary so I’m all for it.

Not to sound callous or anything but I’m not gonna miss him in the ring. He’s good but I think he definitely made the right call.

Yeah I really can't praise his commentary enough. Saw glimpses of it during that short run where he called 205 but I've loved him calling Impact and NJPW this past year

Ya girl did some words of encouragement, but it matches what I believe. Even if he wasn't a main eventer in the ring, the guy was reliable and even in some post-WWE appearances he showed he is good. But the guy's bread and butter has always been when he had a mic. From his early drama king days, to him teaming with the king of burying Enzo Amore, Rusev's hype man, and on the booth. Saves his body in the long run, and he can specialize and find his focus on something he enjoys to get even better.

205 was definitely where I realized dude had potential but he killed it in Impact.

I forget if it was him and D’Lo or him and Striker but I definitely thought impact had the best commentary team for a hot second…

Til McAfee came along
