NoDQ.com > TNA > Matt Morgan comments on TNA going PG
Posted by Mark Virginia on 05/10/2010 at 05:35 PM

In an interview with the “Busted Open†radio show, Matt Morgan was asked about TNA trying to appeal to an older demographic compared to WWE’s PG-TV programming, Morgan said he believes TNA should be going after kids and families in addition to adults. Morgan said TNA doesn’t need to be “cartoony†or “patronize the fans,†but he said they need to cater to the younger fans who haven’t moved on from pro wrestling.

“People my age – I don’t think they’re watching wrestling anymore. They’re watching MMA,†Morgan said.

Well the balls out approach they're going now doesn't seem to be working, maybe, I say maybe, this could work in TNA. I mean they can't get any worse than they are now.

Instead of worrying about certain demographics, TNA should focus on booking coherent and serious storylines which will appeal to ALL demographics.

I sort of agree with him. Alot of wrestling fans in our age group 16-25 are moving on to MMA because it's a cooler sport to watch than wrestling. The smarks on this forum contribute a small percentage of wrestling viewership. It's the other guys in the world that need to watch wrestling for it to succeed again. THose that had interest during the attitude era but has since flamed out.

tbh, I think some TNA wrestlers use swearing a bit too much in there promos. You can hit the point with out saying "kicking your ass" or "your a bitch".

I don't mean don't use swearing. But keep it use for correct use, instead of every 2nd segment!

It would be more family oriented. Since Pro Wrestling is more threathe/Opera than Sports.

WWE knows how to do. They target the kids inwhich. when the shows come to the kids town. Instead of selling one ticket they are probably producing 2-4 tickets to one family.

Morgan is right. At least there is one person in TNA with a brain.

Who's going to be the poster boy? Abyss? IMO, TNA needs to capitalize on being the alternative with a more edgy and exciting product to counter WWE's PG stuff. That's what WCW did and isn't that TNA's goal anyways :shifty:
