Joe Carnahan Reportedly to Write and Direct X-FORCE with Ryan Reynolds Co-Writing

The still-untitled X-Force movie has found its director and a pair of co-writers.

A source close to the film tells ComicBook.com that Joe Carnahan, known best for his work on The Grey, has been tapped to direct the X-Force movie. Carnahan will also write the film, with Deadpool star and executive producer Ryan Reynolds. The source says work has already begun between the two on the film.

Carnahan's resume extends to The A-Team, The Blacklist, and Smokin' Aces. He is in line to direct the upcoming Bad Boys for Life film with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence returning. Carnahan's also working on his recently announced The Raid remake with Frank Grillo, and he’s scripting Shawn Levy‘s Uncharted movie.

In Marvel Comics, the X-Force is a popular group of mutants which first appeared in New Mutants #100 in April of 1991, conceived by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld. With Cable as the team's first leader, the X-Force roster often includes characters such as Boom Boom, Copycat, Warpath, Domino, Wolverine, and Psylocke.

DEADPOOL 2 Lands THE MARTIAN Screenwriter Drew Goddard [Updated]

Over the past few months, the original Deadpool writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have been hard at work trying to craft the sequel. And while it's not entirely sure how far they got into the script, Collider is reporting Drew Goddard has been added to the writing team.

From what the site is hearing, Ryan Reynolds and Goddard have been bunkered down, working on the script together, trying to cross the finish line and create something everyone is excited to make.

Goddard directed The Cabin the Woods and co-write the script with Joss Whedon. He was the one that brought Daredevil to life on Netflix, wrote The Martian for Ridley Scott, wrote Cloverfield for Matt Reeves, and was lined up to direct a Sinister Six movie at Sony before the studio rebooted the Spider-Man franchise anew.

Rob Zombie Confirms Involvement with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

One of the Guardians of the Galaxy's subtle nods included a small role for Rob Zombie, and it looks like the musician has confirmed he will be part of the sequel as well.

Over on Instagram, Rob Zombie posted a picture of him with director James Gunn to share the news. “With [James Gunn] at Disney recording a voice for Guardians of the Galaxy 2,” the star wrote. Then, on Twitter, Gunn said one of his films would not be complete without Zombie’s vocal talents.

In the first Guardians film, fans heard Zombie if he they weren’t aware of it. The musician voiced the Ravager’s own navigation system. Zombie has also lent his voice to other characters featured in Gunn’s films. He voiced a doctor in Slither and even sounded off as God in Super.

So far, there’s no word on who or what Zombie will be voicing in the sequel to Guardians. It will be worth listening in to see if the Ravager’s GPS sounds familiar, but the musician could have assumed a new role in the meantime.

First Reviews for Marvel and Netflix's IRON FIST are Bad

The Hollywood Reporter - Through six episodes, in addition to failing to introduce a main character I care about at all, Iron Fist hasn't given me any season-long arc/objective that I could describe for you, much less one I'm curious to see resolved — and that's before it hits that wall between episodes 7 and 12 that none of the Marvel shows has been immune to.

Variety - Iron Fist is the most frustrating and ferociously boring example of Netflix Drift [pacing problems] in some time. It takes forever for anything to happen on “Iron Fist,” and as it stumbles along, the uninspired production design, unexceptional cinematography, and painful dialogue fail to distract the viewer from the overall lack of depth, detail, or momentum.'

Uproxx - If Iron Fist was an otherwise boring series with a hero who kicked butt in exciting ways early and often, I’d forgive the bland expository parts in the same way I do for a lot of action shows and movies. And if Finn Jones couldn’t fight but was otherwise a riveting screen presence blessed with sparkling dialogue and a compelling character arc, I’d get past the alleged living weapon’s lame physical prowess. But when neither part works at all, why would anyone but the most devout, masochistic Marvel completist want to watch?'

The Verge - The sad truth, however, is that Iron Fist is the weakest of Marvel’s Netflix series to date. As far as diversity, representation, and appropriation go, the series fails in a number of ways. But, over the course of its first six episodes, it also manages to fall short on basic levels like storytelling. Its creative laziness bankrupts the entire show. Marvel’s new series is a disappointing case study in studios needing to try harder to tell difficult stories well.

IGN - Marvel's Iron Fist starts off sluggishly, seeming far more like a soap opera than a superhero series, complete with bland, pretty, rich people sneering and scheming over family fortunes.The latter of these first six episodes eventually brings in more comic book-y and fun elements, but Iron Fist is thus far the weakest of the Marvel-Netflix series.

Den of Geek - I kept waiting for Iron Fist to kick it into another gear, and that sixth episode aside, it never quite did. If nothing else, Marvel’s Netflix efforts have earned the benefit of the doubt, and I’m willing to believe that the next seven episodes make up for lost time. Hopefully Iron Fist is just a slow burn, and the steady build that begins in episode three and blossoms in episode six continues for the rest of the series.

I just watched the first few episodes of Iron Fist. As expected the critics completely blew it out of proportion. The show is definitely slow and methodical but that doesn't mean bad. Finn Jones is great so any bad reviews on him is completely bullshit. The show is the weakest of the Netflix series but it sure as shit ain't the disaster critics are making it out to be. It's simply telling the story the way it'd probably go if this happened. Sorry if it isn't comic booky enough yet.

It was slow. I can see how people would say boring tbh but I understood that they were just showing how it'd go down. I'm sure it'll pick up though.
