So today I watched this thing on the History Channel called Marijuana A Chronic History. I missed the start of it but I have set it to record when its on again in a few hours. It was a pretty good documentary about the history of Marijuana and to my surprise it didn't try to make it look back.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBXIfs85lis

That's the start of it and you can get all 6 parts on his channel to see it all.

Like to know what you think about it.

Should Marijuana be legal or not? Why and why not? Watch it I think most of you may enjoy it

I've always believed that all drugs should be legalized, produced and sold by government. No reason not to make money off of people who are going to do it anyway. Not to mention the drastic decrease in crime that would come along with legalization.

I'll check out the doc after. Enjoying watching some Bullshit right now.

Heck that could really help out countries. The US is really in need of something like this to get us out of this bad slump we're in.

and when you watch let me know what you think of it.

As long as you don't pretend free health care afterwards...

Considering the fact that we here in Canada already have free health care for everyone, including junkies, adding more money to the system is only going to make things better.

I will.

And yes, it would help out significantly I would think.

Think about all the people in prison because of drug possession or distribution crimes. How much money is spent on them? All of it would be saved.

If the government was intelligent and produced a quality product at equal or lesser prices, what happens to all the drug dealers? They all have to find real jobs.

For those of you who have them, ask your dealers if they want drugs legalized. I know mine doesn't because then he wouldn't be able to sit at home all day, smoke weed, drink beer and watch TV. He'd have to get a real job.

Sadly, until people wise up and get past the idea that drugs are taboo and understand that no matter what you do people are always going to do them, we're going to keep throwing money and resources at a "war" that can never be won.

I still don't see why the gov should bother healing you when you ruined your health.

You pay, you get drugs.
You pay, you get cured.
Sounds fine to me.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you. But it is something that we do have already, so I don't see the need to get rid of it. If we were to get rid of health care certain things would need to be done to ensure that the cost of health care is reasonable and easily accessible to those who need it, not to mention I would think that we would need to cut taxes in order to return the money that people currently pay into health care.

Or you could just make the ''drug cure'' not free without changing everything else.
Meaning health care remains free as long as health problems are not due to drug use. In that case, you pay.

How are you supposed to distinguish between say, AIDS gotten from sharing dirty needles and being infected with AIDS through unsafe sexual practices?

Depends. If you had unprotected sex with somebody and you knew he had aids, then it's your fault, you pay. If he didn't tell you, it's his fault, he pays.
Again, I'm pretty sure if you have sex with somebody with aids and he doesn't tell you, you could start legal action or something. At least here.

I would. If it doesn't work, we'll see what's the problem and try to correct it.

Doesn't change the fact that the main problem of legalizing drugs, is that with free health care, the community has to pay because you wanted to feel high. Honestly that's ridiculous.

Except that in places with existing health care this already happens. By legalizing drugs that ensures that they do at least pay for some of their health care.

The same thing occurs with smoking too.

I pay almost $13 a pack for cigarettes because of the ridiculous taxes on them. That should pay for any health issues that might occur due to my smoking.
