According to a report from Around The Octagon:

ATO has learned through a source close to Gracie Tampa that Marcus Jones has decided to retire from MMA after his loss at The Ultimate Fighter Finale.

Jones was featured on The Ultimate Fighter season 10 and quickly became a fan favorite and also one of the favorites to win the show. He was the only fighter on Team Rampage to earn a spot in the quarter-finals after defeating UFC veteran Mike Wessel. After destroying Darrill Schoonover in the “Big Babyâ€￾ was knocked out by Brendan Schaub.

Despite the loss Jones was invited to fight at The TUF 10 Finale against Matt Mitrione. Mitrione caught Jones with a big right and Jones suffered his second straight KO loss.

Jones started his MMA career very late after playing 7 years in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Bucs. He suffered several injuries while playing football that put him at a disadvantage as a fighter.

Jones was an extremely one-dimensional fighter. His stand-up was elementary and jaw was made of glass. Even though Big Baby will no longer enter the cage, he hopes to stay involved in the mixed martial arts world and become a commentator.

His stand up sucked, but he was definitely a huge fan favorite. The dude was a beast on the ground!

his fight against matt was fucking terrible. I wouldn't pay this guy a thousand bucks to fight at all. No excuse on why he was that bad except he was lazy and wasn't committed to getting better. If he had a real burning desire to be in the UFC and be something, Round 2 wouldn't of been him being so idiotic after a little fatigue.

He practically charged at matt backing him into the cage. He walked into Matt's heavy hands. Fucking idiot, he must of been training with some really shit people. When fatigue sinks in Marcus's instincts shouldn't of been hey i'll go bang with this guy. He took shots and got dropped. Fucking pathetic

:smh

Give him about four or five months after he retires, he'll definitely will want to come back in MMA soon. All he needs to do is find a great camp that will IMPROVE his stand-up, I mean he can get the help from Kimbo as far as I know since they were cool as fuck on TUF 10. Shit and in return Marcus can help Kimbo with his ground game also.

His main problem was that he came out way to hard and fast. Sure that maybe intimidating for something that size to rush you, but alls you have to do is telegraph that 1st punch and you cant take him out. Mitrione new that, that's how he got that 2nd round Knockout so easily.
